I took the Corvette plant tour a few weeks ago. Staring at the new addition, it's pretty hard not to imagine that it's more than a paint facility. However, looking at the C7 sales #'s, its even harder to imagine GM ceasing production of a winner, to risk lower sales from a more expensive niche Corvette.
Further, that gap that gets talked about...the one between Camaro ZL1/Z28 and Corvette, would be filled with increased sales of Mustang, Challenger, the upcoming Barracuda, Supra, and potential RX-9.
No... I think C7 is here to stay for a while.

In a few years, come back to this thread and check to see if I'm right. At a minimum, I bet the years will be correct.

Mid 2018 - GM's new super car begins production as a 2019 model and is likely assembled in Bowling Green

Yet another useless thread quoting the C&D article. At least the other threads did the math correct. But not this one. If they're introducing the mid-engine Vette at the 2018 auto show, it will be a 2019 model, not 2018. That means there will be at least a 5th year for the C7. IMHO, I think none of this is correct and expect the next gen Vette to be introduced as a 2020 model as predicted earlier.

Tell us: Will there still be butt hurt Camaro owners trolling in the C8 forum?

Think about it, not a big deal so people don't stress and condem each other. Bottom line; don't like the design or price, don't buy. Our only control over the manufacturer is our ability/desire to purchase their product.

I have read all the posts and everyone's opinions and I want to hear from Mr. Peabody, who really would be the only "person" who would be able to substantiate Sherman's article.

Why is it not that hard to believe?
The C7 is not all that different from a C5 architecture wise. The C7 chassis setup does not need massive redoing to remain competitive.
There has no been no mid model refresh on the interior at all, 100 percent identical to the day it was released.
So a C8 is not going to be such a huge change from the C7 like the 7 was from the 6.
They got the platform right, tweaks, body changes and interior changes rolled into a new model is not as expensive as it is to develop something from the ground up.
The lack of the mid model interior update to me would point more towards building the last C7 the same as the first and having a 'new' car sooner rather than later.
The flip side to that is there is not much to fix. Interior materials could be more competitive. Performance wise they will be hard pressed to make leap and bound improvements.
The stuff where the C7 falls behind the current market cars, infotainment and the IP itself is not that difficult to fix.
So that all being said the $ to refresh the C7 might equal a large percentage of the $ of a new car because both are smaller costs than from the C6 to C7. Also taken into consideration the cost streamlining that Chevy talked about that got the C7 out the door in the first place.
I am a new thing person...I like having everything the latest and the greatest. I buy all the newest stuff. Even from my perspective GM would have to do a whole helluva lot to get me interested in getting a new Corvette over the one I have.

why does it bother me because most of the rumors are false, if you want to help spread false information fine, if you like reading fiction fine, if you want to add your two cents worth of bs and set your hopes on information that until verified by a GM official rather than someone who has owned a lot of Corvettes fine, all the power to you, enjoy. And if you don't like my post don't ready, your logic can go both ways pal.
Oh, I heard from a guy who's neighbor is the mailman that's married to a dude who used to own a C2 who says that the C8 is going to run on fairy dust, tell me your thoughts on that Jimmy.

This may be the most interesting forum on the net. It's hilarious to read the posts from the white socks and sandals crowd whining about anything that differs from the car they purchased, be it black vs. chrome wheels, auto vs. manual transmissions, ceramic "breaks", and "Mobile One" free oil changes.
Honestly, I don't know how they find time to post while guarding their lawns from kids trespassing.
I never realized there was so many insecure people who needed affirmation of their choice of car from perfect strangers.
NEWS FLASH - a mid-engine Corvette is coming. Deal with it or move back to Cadillac before you can't order a vinyl top or fender skirts.
How do you know it's false information? No doubt, it might all be BS, but it also might all be correct. No one knows (even you). And BTW, how am I SPREADING false information, exactly? I am commenting on something written by a guy (Don Sherman) that has been doing this (writing about cars) almost as long as I've been alive.
I never said any of this was FACT, I said it was fun to have the conversation about what MIGHT be. I disagree with some of Sherman's time lines as they don't make business sense to me. I've owned a lot of Corvettes also, that doesn't make me an expert on the future any more than it makes you. It makes me someone who enjoys talking about it. Clearly you don't, so why pollute a thread that you think is BS. Again, I don't understand it.
And finally: Here's something we KNOW. If GM bankruptcy hadn't happened, we would all be driving mid-engine C7's.
That, PAL, is a FACT.

Hahaha, very true! This is indeed a very interesting Forum! Comment about Chrome wheels and current Chrome wheel owners come out in herds and get all defensive! Same thing about Z51's, stripes and so on!
And God forbid you talk about changing or evolving!! If it was up to some on here, the Corvette would still have popup headlights and round lights! You can't stay stuck in the past people, it's okay to evolve and improve!!
And what's with people thinking Cadillac is so special? Are they thinking it's still the 1960's? Is it a regional thing? Cadillac is coming up but it's not there yet! The Corvette is GM's highest priced car and its Halo car! There is absolutely no debate about this and it's the only car within the brand that should get or can carry even a higher Halo car.
