So I decided to take my 2016 Z51 A8 to get a baseline before I start tinkering with it.
To my satisfaction, it ran an 11.93 on the stock tires with 1/2 a half tank of gas in the tank. It was a balmy 81 degrees, which is hot for New England in early May.
I am going to New England Dragway on 5/25 with my new drag radials!
Very impressive that you broke into the 11s with stock run flops! I was up there last month, it was cooler @ 60 degrees, but I couldn't hook for **** and only did a 12.46. Congrats!

Is your car an auto?
My best results were from smashing the gas to the floor off the line, and letting the car shift itself in Sport. When I say smash the gas, I mean zero throttle modulation at all. I had all nannies shut off for all my runs. The track was hooking good because they were running X275 that day.
I tried 2 runs paddle shifting because the car short shifts on the 1-2, and 2-3. First run paddle shifting I went 12.15 on a 1.85 short time. That was rolling the throttle quick, and the the other paddle shift run was a 12.20 because I hit the limited on the 2-3, and that was on a 1.84, again, using some modulation off the line.
I never brake torqued the car, instead I flashed the converter on each run. I made 4 runs total, 12.15, 12.15, 12.20, 11.93 (sorry, 11.94, lol).
Means just hitting the gas hard from an idle. Versus holding the car at a certain rpm with your foot on the brake while standing still and releasing the brake before rolling out. The converter seems too tight to have that make the car run any quicker, and the steep gearing in 1st seems maximized by flashing the converter, as long as the track hooks that it is....
I found the stock tires to be great with stock power. I did a 1st gear burnout each time, just enough to see "medium" smoke I my mirrors, and the car didn't so much as chirp once. Again, the track was prepped well the day I went. This wouldn't be the case on a street night.
Sorry to burst your bubble but that'd be a 11.94 (11.938 rounds up, not down, to 11.94)...
That may be true mathematically but not in Formula 1 terms. Those guys always seem to truncate the lap times, not round them. LOL.
Not trying to hijack your thread OP, just couldn't resist the reply. Looks like an excellent time to me. From your description even I might be able to run such a time but I'm really not into drag racing.

What track? I cannot see where you live. I go to New York, its closer to me. If you went to new Hampshire, the track is typically .2 quicker than the valley. Great 60 ft time. BTW what is that track compound you referred to? all tracks don't use the same stuff?

It is an auto, and I was in Track mode for each run, full auto. I was brake torquing each time, so interesting you mention to just gun it off idle. I did not try that.
However, I did use launch control too several times, and couldn't get any hookup.
If you are available on 5/25, you should join us. There are a few of us going, but I am the only C7 in the group.

Good run! That's the same way I've run and have gotten the best results with my C7. I do a 3 sec. burnout, no water box,(with street tires) and on the second stage light I hold hard & quickly floor it. Then I let off and idle and on the green stab & steer it the rest of the way! The only problem I've had is the track I've run is crappy. I've hooked well off the line but 1-2 & 2-3 shifts broke loose & drifted a bit. Had to let off. No race ever won going sideways. Hope to get up to Bradenton. Much better track.
It's crazy how things change in short time. I look at that 12 second slip for the person you raced and I remember thinking that's fast. 11s were stupid fast. For me...11s is slow tho

It was New England Dragway. You are correct, the DA there is way better than Lebanon Valley so you will run about .2 quicker. The Trap Speed at Lebanon is usually better for me for some reason though...it's been rumored that NED timing lights are slightly off and tend to read 2 mph slower. I believe that to be true actually. I ran 11.80's at 117 and change in my old Boss 302 at Lebanon in early September, then in October at NED in great fall air, ran 11.50's at the same 117! Go figure..
Its just a baseline anyway. Hoping to do an ECS kit this year.
