Sometimes, for reasons that I don't understand, the eBrake refuses to disengage. Makes me look like a fool in that I don't know how to drive the car as I try to "break" the seal as it were. Usually it says to step on the brake and I do but even then, sometimes it still refuses to disengage. Why does this happen?
When I load my work crap in the car after work I have been known to hit the ebrake switch o-slow slight. Have learned to apply the gas pedal lightly and finally the car breaks free. Seems weird.
I'm a little confused as to what the OP's problem actually is.
It's supposed to release when the accelerator is pressed (even without brake). Not sorta pressed, but really pressed.
That's exactly the problem! It's supposed to release when the accelerator is pressed but sometimes it doesn't. That's the problem. An alert pops up saying something like "Press brake pedal to release emergency brake". I can get the exact text when it happens again. Again it only happens sometimes, perhaps 5% of the time.
Just a thought: if you have just washed your car, or have just come in from driving in the rain (I know, I know, but I've discovered that our C7 doesn't melt ) and apply the e-brake, it can stick the next time you get the car out. When I put ours away after washing or coming in from a rain, I 'ride' the brake just a bit when putting it in the garage to clear the rotors/pads from wetness and also remove any very slight 'rust' that easily forms on the rotors when they get wet without applying the brakes for a while. Hope this helps.
