Now that I have my Quick Jack, I want to swap wheels/tires from time to time. Can anyone suggest a reasonable electric impact gun and socket?
Preferably a socket that provides less damage to the lug nuts...
I am going with the Z06 repro wheels (black chrome) from DocZ-1stratecorvetteparts.com

I use a DeWalt 20 volt cordless. However, I always break lug nuts loose with a breaker bar before I use the impact. Best thing about the cordless is you can take it anywhere without needing to stretch a cord.

I am sure someone on here has a better recommendation for a socket - I use one from Harbor Freight which has worked well for many years.
Whatever impact tool you buy, also look at Reverse Logic lug nut guide tools too. A great addition to anyone's garage that re & re wheels around large, delicate rotors and calipers.
Oops, SWT 86 beat me!

I bought this little set of deep sockets for wheel removal on any of my cars. They have thin walls to fit inside the Corvette wheels and a protective plastic outer sleeve, so you don't scratch your wheels. They work great.
Is there a less invasive socket on the market?
The ones I used to use beat up the lug nuts.
Been using this plastic lined lug scoket for years. They are expensive and when I looked last, found only on a Porsche parts website. Suggest you google images, when you see the pic it go to that page. Unlike the cheap ones at like Harbor Freight and elsewhere that say "protective," they have plastic on the outside! Doesn't help the Lug Nut! If you think you need outside protection for the wheel, put electrical tape around the outside. I use a breaker bar and torque wrench and there is no contact with the wheel.
PS: Funny, just googled as I suggested and found an old post I made! Found the Porsche website and the price is $35! Not supposed to quote non vendor websites but since I don't know of any that sell it here it is: http://www.vertexauto.com/ShowItem/4...ty%20Tool.aspx
Might click on some other pics and you may find it cheaper. But compared to the many advertised that say protective, all those I found has plastic on the outside!
I use a Milwaukee M18 Fuel cordless impact. No need to use a breaker bar with well over 1000ft lbs of torque available. Its far more powerful than the IR2131 air impact it replaced long ago. Air tools are mostly history.
