Has anyone noticed how wildly inaccurate the nav eta is when first
starting an entered route?

It does update, but at route start I find you just cannot rely on the eta.

Maybe because of its "naivety"

Yeah it takes a couple of minutes to dial it in. I switched to Waze which is scary accurate.

The Nav is tied into the XM traffic (if you have a subscription). It usually takes a couple of minutes to get the GPS reception. Once that connects, it factors in the traffic conditions. You'll sometimes hear something like "there are traffic delays along the route", and the initial estimate will increase. I find it to be pretty accurate. Of course, conditions change as you drive, so traffic delays will change (increase or decrease) the ETA.
