I was offered $55,000 for my 2015 Z51 2LT A8 Laguna blue/Kalahari with front Xpel. 5800 miles and pristine condition. For this purpose, assume I can get best pricing on a new Z06, and it's not going to be offset.
Seems fair. Dealers are not known for their generosity, but trading for a Z06 is cool. Would depend on the bottom line, after tt&l as to whether you got a good deal.
I believe the $2000 from GM for Vette owners is over. End of model year, though. I would want the 55k for your car and at least 8% off the Z. Good luck.

What think the folks here?
Thanks.
Give us the price on the Z06 then we can determine what kind of deal you got. The trade figure alone means little.
you need to talk to dealers. on cars.com i see one dealer in miami offering 11 percent off a 2016 z06, but nearly 20 percent off a base lt1 automatic. he shows a $2000 loyalty discount for the base car available until june 30th, but not available on the z06, so there seems to be some details you'll have to research. can you sell your current car outright and still get loyalty discount if it's available when you buy the z06? is the 55,000 offer based on a trade in or is it outright sale? in your state, can you roll the sales tax difference into your new car purchase if you don't trade it in or not? lots of details we can't give you.
Carmax offered $57,000 for our 2016 3lt, A8, exposed carbon roof, etc. $77+ window sticker and it had 290 miles on it. Needless to say we thanked them for their time and left.

Hate to say it, but this is correct. It's not what they offer on the trade, it's the difference you'll pay for the new Z06. That's where the rubber hits the road. However, you are off to a good start.
To simply answer your question. That's seems like a very fair trade in, right now, given there are good deals on new 2016's as 2017's are rolling off the line. And dealers need to make money too.
The OP said "assume I can get the best price on a new Z06". Maybe he gets GM Employee pricing, so the cost of his new car is the same at any GM dealer. Thus his only variable is the trade in value. Maybe his only decision now is trade in or sell privately. (I've been in that situation). Of course if someone is in fact negotiating on both sides, then the net is all that matters, as many folks have said.

Did you buy it the day before or something? Is there something wrong with it? Not sure why only 290 miles.
They aren't going to pay more for a 300 mile car than a 3000, it just doesn't matter to 99% of buyers and they are already selling 14's and 15's in the low 50's

Thanks for reading the whole post. I can likely get 8% below MSRP, so I'm thinking that's a pretty good "net" deal.

Since you are in the NE you may want to check with one of the forum dealers to see what kind of bottom line you can get from them.... Never hurts to shop around, and if you're willing to travel a little you could save thousands.

I got $55500 for my 2015 Z51 2LT Red with Blk @6000 miles on it. Sold my carbon fiber roof for $2000 separately. I paid @$64000 new with my discount.
