New here, new to Vettes, reading and learning all I can do, looking at buying my first one soon just not sure which way to go. Pretty sure I want an auto as will be driven daily. My dilemma is should I get a low miles 2012/2013 C6 or a C7 2014/2015. Those with more experience than me, which is probably everyone on here please chime in what would you do for your first Vette and why?. I cant buy brand new I know what I can afford, but I am stuck on what to do. Some good deals out there on C6 with nice options but at the same time C7 looks awesome and the base is attainable.
I have only owned a C7 so far, but have spoken with many owners that have had multiple generations, and they all say the exact same thing... The C7 is way ahead of the other generations in every aspect. I have driven a couple C5's and C6's, and I would agree. The older generations are not bad cars, but the C7 is a huge leap forward.

Easy answer for me. Older Corvettes are great cars too but I honestly think the C7 is the best American car to ever make it into production. Do yourself a favor and get one.
C7 if you can afford it comfortably. Loved my 2013 C6 that I just traded in, it certainly is not a penalty box of any kind, but the C7 is hands down better.
I've owned six Corvettes in the last 26 years - have more than 600,000 miles in them.
I loved my C4s. But my C6 was far and away the best of the five cars with 126,000 miles on the clock when I traded it - but....no contest:The C7 is the car to buy.
As good as the C6 was the C7 is just ever so much better!
I always liked Corvettes but waited until I was 65 to buy my first one. The C7 is clearly the best and most highly refined Corvette ever. Outstanding performance, improved interior and a great road car, even on long trips.
If a C7 is in your range pocket book wise, then that would be the direction to go.
Since you haven't had the driving experience in either the C6 or C7 to be able to compare for yourself, take the advice from the people here that have and look at the C7.
You can start off in a C6 and there isn't anything wrong with that but it will only be a matter of time before you are looking to make that next move up.
As stated before, test drive both and let the car sell itself to you because it can do a heck of a lot better than us just telling you about it.
If you are buying used and like you said you want a automatic get a 2014 C7 with the problem free A6 you will not be sorry and prices are great on the 14'S! Good Luck with your search!
If your shift **** looks like this you should not have any problems with your automatic tranny!

And I think while a '12 or '13 C6 is very likely more "affordable" to buy it, just because it's older, it has the chance of needing more repairs along the way. That is, compared to a newer, say, '14 C7.
If a very low-, or no-option C7 is within your budget AND still allows you an additional budget for potential repairs outside of your car's existing warranty, then I'd say go for a C7. As others have said, the C6 is very good, but every generation (and frankly, every year) brings added things that contribute to "better." Sometimes more complex, but still "better."
Whatever you do, as a daily driver make sure you have an adequate budget in case there are repairs or replacements (I'm thinking here of tires--if you don't know what they cost, look it up now) outside of your car's warranty. And speaking of warranty, read up on here (CF) about "extended warranties" which are actually pre-paid service plans, and know the difference betw. GMPP and GMEPP (the newer plan).
WOW overwhealming concensous here, kind of what I was thinking but you just never know. I have read some threads on the A8 transmission but didn't get from what I read what the issues are and that whatever they are its a none issue. What are the differences between the A6 and A8.?

The A8 has a lot more mechanical problems while the A6 seems to be almost problem free!
