Default GEICO and C7 insurance

I am 59, no points, no accidents, live in NJ.
Today I got a quote from my GEICO provider (have 5 cars insured by them) - basic coverage, $1000 deductible.
1. The Z06 2 LZ M7 is $2100/yr;
2. The Z51 2LT M7 is $1900/yr.

NEITHER car was eligible for GEICO's extended warranty coverage (which I found surprising and somewhat disconcerting!).

I'm not sure if you are asking a question or not. Comparisons with other peoples policies are pointless unless they live in your city with the same car and with a similar driving record and age. I have been with Geico many times. I recently changed to Travelers for Auto and homeowners and am getting much better coverage for a little less money. Your mileage will vary!

Wow, I'm 32 with no tickets/accidents in California aka ripoffland and I pay $1200 a year on my 2016 2LT Corvette through State Farm. That seems like a crazy amount for insurance. It also seems crazy that 650hp is only $200 more per year than 460hp.

Wow, I'm at $730/yr on a Z51 2LT M7 w/ Nationwide 20 miles from Washington, DC. That includes a rider for OEM parts only in case of damage, and $500 vanishing deductible, which is now down to nothing because of a completely accident-free record.

However, I also have 4 other vehicles, my home, and a personal umbrella policies all w/ the same company.

I think it's NJ - the reason for the high insurance.

My other inferred question is - why does GEICO not provide warranty coverage for these vehicles? Is it because of their inherent complexity, repair history, or likelihood for abuse/misuse?

As a fellow Jerseite, my sincerous condolences! I managed to escape from NJ about 30 years ago. Here's hoping you get out...

All fine reasons for leaving that hell hole. Sorry, glad to not live there anymore. I'm sure some people love it but it's not for me.

I was with them for 40 years and also changed to Travelers for my 2 cars after a ridiculous quote to insure the 2016 C7. I cut the cost to 1/3 of what GEICO wanted and got more coverage. For the C7 and and a 2013 650xi BMW my total for a year is just a little over $1,000.

Give an agent a call and let them do their magic.

There will be many posts offering good advice, etc. But wonka12_98 you nailed it. It will always be an apples to oranges comparison.

You need to do a lot of research and shop around.

My original quote from Geico to add my 2016 z51 was an additional $3000 / year. I called them back with quotes from Allstate that were half of Geico rate. The Geico agent re-did my quote using some type of different scoring system using credit scores and my rate for the z51 magically dropped to $1300/year. I am 54 and live in pa so the rates won't be the same as NJ but I would get another quote from Allstate or other carrier and call them back or switch if the other carrier gives you a significantly better rate.

Geico has raised rates in the "tri- county region" as per their customer service. Im 44 live on long island have had Geico for over 20 years. I have no claims on my cars and my rates have gone up $500 in the last two 6 month terms. I will be looking for another carrier myself, I said I'm a customer for over 20 years and you raising my rates? I have no accidents or any claims and a NY state driver safety discount. They basically said yeah sorry and we are sorry to lose your business, but thats the rates for the area.

Geico has gotten very expensive in the last 2 years on Long Island - not sure why, other than they feel with good advertising, they can get the premiums. I don't have my C7 with them, but for our other 4 cars, rates have climbed 30% since 2014 - no tickets or accidents.

I find it odd that you could not get the extended warranty coverage. I live in Texas and it is available here...or was when I got my '15, seems odd that it would not be nation wide.
Time to make some phone calls and get quotes from other insurers.

Try State Farm. I'm in NJ, similar driving record with 2 cars paying about the same on the z51 with a $500 deductible.

Funny, I did just what you did, and got nowhere with the Lizard. So I put the Vette into Progressive and then later switched everything (4 cars, house, umbrella) to Liberty Mutual and saved over $1k/yr.

Not sure which county in NJ you're in, but #2 is what i was paying. (Oddly enough the insurance on my late model Wrangler Rubicon was $150 cheaper than that).

I'm on a year-long stint in the Bay Area and the only thing so far that is cheaper here is my Car Insurance.

I'm at ~$3000 yr for the Z51. But I'm also in south Florida where insurance is the bane of anyone's existence.
