I almost never go to California because of the restrictive laws against having the ability to defend yourself. As a California resident, what's your solution to legally carrying the Glock in your Corvette?
I'm retired LEO so no issue for me. I have ccw in all 50 states.
All you need is a couple of clean pairs of skivvies, a deodorant stick and your credit card. Enjoy the ride.
Before I leave on a road trip, I make sure my LARGE spray bottle of Windex is full to the brim, as at just about every stop we make, and I'm cleaning the bugs off my windshield, everyone else says "hey Joe, can I borrow your Windex and towel?"..
On one trip to the Smokey Mountains, I even had to give a new GS owner my quart of oil. His low oil light came on and we were on the Blue Ridge Parkway(no services on the Parkway).
Getting ready to take a couple of road trips in the C7 this summer and looking for recommendations on things to take & expect. I'm used to taking road trips on a motorcycle, but a car is way different. I have a car cover, although I may not use it (it may draw more attention). I also have wheel locks (locking lug nuts). Thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
FWIW, this is what I have in my left rear compartment all the time:
1) Four 2 inch jack pads that clear my side skirts (That is where I always keep them,)
2) Small tool kit and rags
3) Black wheel weights (A poster noted when they had a flat fixed they used silver weights on their black wheels! Can't expect folks to have black weights so I carry them even if I have tires changed/flat done in town.)
4) Small battery powered air pump (it fits.)
5) Small tire repair kit that fits in a screw together tire plug kit, Dynaplug, you can google. Just in case I can't find someone to repair the tire or if it's in the outer tread don't want to wait for a new tire! Pic below.
6) Wheel Lock Key
7) NoviStreach Bra (only use it on long trips, but it's small and fits in the compartment)
With those and my Leatherman Multitool could go anywhere!!
Live in one of the Shall Issue counties of California. 🔫
IIRC, most of those shall-issue counties have small populations and their permits aren't good statewide, i.e. in So Cal or the Bay Area. And some are only good in the county of issue (I think). I think the cutoff for a valid-statewide permit is your issuing county has to have a population of 600,000 or more.
I left California long ago and I'm not a retired LEO, so I guess no California permit for me. Switching residency to California would incur CA state income taxes which would be not worth it, so I guess I'll continue my mostly-stay-away-from-California strategy. They don't need my tourist dollars anyway, do they?
Unloaded guns in a locked case, reduced-capacity magazines. The whole California thing is ridiculous. Didn't San Francisco pass some law where in their own home its residents are required to keep their guns disassembled and locked in a safe?
Three extra magazines? I don't ever want to get into a fire fight with a 9MM or any gun for that matter. My Glock is a defensive get outa there weapon. If I have to shoot, hopefully never, one or two well placed rounds should do it.
Stop the car, pee beside the road like a man.
Are you a horses a**?
Oh you were the one with the PMs. Well, if you are willing to stop anytime you have to pee because your prostate is the size of an apple you go ahead. When I drive across country I use the Gatorade bottle thus I dont stop. Calling me a horses' *** dont bother me. Is that the best you can do?

LOL - I saw your earlier post about taking your Glock with you and I was going to say that it's not going to be much help if you can't have it loaded in Cali, but being a retired LEO must help with that part

Our club does a lot of long road trips and we cover around 500 miles each day to get to our destination. We plan on potty stops every 1.5-2 hours.. Most of us are in our 60's and 70's, so, in addition to needing to stop to pee, we need to stretch our legs.
Plus, I doubt if many of our ladies have enlarged prostates or desire to pee into a plastic bottle while cruising down the highway.
I normally plan our gasoline stops to coincide with a needed potty break/stretch legs break, to save time. Same goes with lunch stops.

CA ccws issued in shall-issue counties are good state-wide, and very permissive. Amongst the most permissive in the country. SF is a lost cause for the time being. 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫
