Default Preparing for track day

Taking the car to the track for the first time. What do you guys do to prepare the car for track day. There will be anywhere from 8 to 10 cars on the track at any time. The track is approximately 2 1/2 mile road course. The owner of the track suggested that I tape up the headlights and front nose to protect against damage from track debris. For those of you that take your car to the track what do you suggest I do to prepare against damage.

Thanks - Ed

I had my entire front end covered with Expel, but its fairly expensive. Taping the headlights with blue painters tape is good insurance, those babies are real costly. One of the biggest offenders on a road course is flying rubber chunks. It gets scrubbed off tires and it can look like flying through flak in a combat zone! It leaves streak marks on your hood and fenders, but no dings. It'll come off easily with Goof Off or other tar remover.

Ed, I forgot to mention track insurance. Your regular policy will not cover you or your car. (If your hear differently, be suspicious and get it in writing). I get mine through Lockton: http://locktonmotorsports.com/produc...tcode=ded03398
