Thats what I do with my 1980. Bought it in 2011 and haven't replaced the battery yet.

I leave my Battery Tender on all winter, and that is a long time here. I take my battery out now and charge on the bench, easy on the C5 not so much on other generations. Never had a problem

If my car is in use I like to put the Tender on after four or five days, especially if I know I will not be using it in the following few days.

Default Ctek 7002

google: COMFORT CONNECT CIG PLUG
I purchased this Ctek 7002 and plugged into adapter in trunk and it did not work. Anything I need to do? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Test it using the alligator clips on another vehicle or directly to your C7 battery. Your 12v plugs (either male or female) could be bad. If that doesn't work you could have a bad unit.

Tested on another vehicle and worked fine. Think the plug is not hot, checked fuse and it’s ok. Any other thoughts?

Perhaps you should turn the plug in the receptacle, it may not be making good contact.

If that doesn't work, check with a meter to see if you have voltage on the plug receptacle, it should always be hot. Just be careful not to short on the side when you put the probe on the bottom center of the receptacle. The other probe goes to the case.

If you access the battery you'll see the case of the plug is (or should be) connected directly to the negative terminal on the battery post clamp. There is a small wire coming from the area of the receptacle that is connected with a screw.

it is wired correctly, did turn around, and plugged a phone charger into plug (no meter) and it did not power either. The plug seems to be dead!! What to do now?

Look at the battery and see if that ground wire is attached to the negative terminal. If it is and the correct fuse was checked need to see a dealer.

Or can only suggest you go to Harbor Freight and get an inexpensive VOM. They often have coupons for one free with any purchase! Have given several to friends as I have a number of quality meters but also use the Free Harbor Freight meter from time to time. Don’t need any more free flashlights and measuring tapes!

Yes. I use a Ctek 3300, which comes with a harness that uses eyelets to attach on the car. In that attached photo, there is a stud on the rear side of the underhood fuse box that is a path to the positive side of the battery. The red lead/eyelet of the Ctek harness was put over that post and a second nut on top of that to snug it down.

For the negative side, there is a chassis ground stud on the right frame rail, just to the right of the alternator. Same thing there with a second nut to snug the other eyelet down. Zip-tie the black lead to something convenient there to keep it from flopping around to close to the serp belt.

Plug your Ctek in to that harness.

Default Firm believer

Hi folks

I am a firm believer on a battery maintainer during the winter.
The GM delco battery on my C6 lasted about 3 years....had trouble finding a new delco battery......wanted to keep it original....invested in a battery tender and 6 years later when I sold it it was still strong...I connected my tender to the terminals with a plug in clip that was provided with the tender..

My C7 has the lighter socket in the trunk that has power all the time...I just plug in the GM tender and run the cable out through the rear of the trunk....no problem..plenty of room for the cable..

C7 is on the official GM maintenance charger the whole time at home in the garage. My old C5 was stored remote so I just disconnected the battery with no issues. Also used an genuine battery tender on the old STS-V all the time over the winter at home as well.

I keep my battery tender attached to my car all the time when I am not driving it.
