With the latest version of iOS on my iPhone 6, I am now able to receive and hear read to me new text messages in my M7 2015 Z06. However, I have never been able to respond using the prescripted responses and the "Reply" function that came with the car's infotainment system, even when stopped and idling.
Has anyone been able to get this to work? Or did GM change its mind after releasing the software and decide to disable it?

Hi Ron,
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having trouble responding to text messages through your Corvette's infotainment system. I understand how this could be very inconvenient while driving.
Have you reached out to our Infotainment team? They are trained to handle all infotainment inquiries and can be reached at 855-478-7767, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST. If they’re unable to find a solution, please feel free to follow up with a private message and I can look into this further.
Thanks, Lauren. I called and it turns out that the iPhone doesn't work with infotainment system to reply to texts. Apparently, Android devices do work.
The workaround is to use the "Push-to-Talk" button on the steering wheel to ask Siri to do the reply for you. I tried this and it works.
With Android Auto and CarPlay the way it's supposed to work is to tap the mic (or hold the steering wheel call button) and say "Reply". You then dictate the message and confirm sending the reply. Works great.
I forget how the MyLink system handles texts but it never worked for me. IIRC it only receives texts if you use the default SMS app on your phone. I use Hangouts, which is not the default SMS app on my phone. So I never got texts to reply to. With AA Hangouts work fine (though I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to replay the message sent to me).
Unless you use Siri Eyes Free or Car Play you CANNOT reply to texts. This is by design on Apple's end because you can't compose texts from your "lock screen" due to security.
I haven't tried since Apple implemented the "quick reply" on the lock screen in iOS 8, but if this feature is off it most certainly will not work.
CarPlay works perfectly on my iPhone 6 Plus. It reads the message, asks if I want to respond and then dictates what I say. No need to push any buttons.
I have an idea.....you are in the car to drive, how about you ignore text messages until you get to your destination. Yes I understand this is not helpful and kinda of a jerk reply, but people need to start paying attention to their driving.

You can do both, as long as you know the priority is driving.
It's like walking and chewing gum. Gum chewing is secondary to the walking.

We can agree to disagree, I see this crap all the time, people make the phone the priority and that is the problem. Most people THINK they can do both, but in reality most cannot.

No I agree most people can't. You have to have the attitude that at any given moment you could have to chuck the phone out the window.
