C7: Another leap forward. Across the board improvement over my beloved C6.

My opinions only.
the C4 was a huge step forward for the American Sports Car. It would handle better than anything before it on the track. The Merc-Lotus engine was leaps beyond anything before it. Had a new look that sme would say is ugly, but the wedge was in, look at all the sports cars in the ‘80s. They were all under powered and ugly. It was the stepping stone for what we have now. Remember from 63 to 83 nothing changed but the plastic. In the 70s they lost convertibles, and power. C4 brought back both. By the way the ZR1 with the Merc-Lotus engine was a $27,000 option. Priced most people right out of the market.

GM and risk of bankruptcy is not a one time event, and could happen again. Hopefully the mid engine car will not be killed or delayed. There was a time after 2008 I was worried the increase in power and performance would come to an end (as in 1970's).

Love me some torch red. Have had 4 of them beginning in 1993. John H. was in the Corvette video that came with my new 1993.

Good for you!

IIRC, the author bought a red C5 before his untimely death a number of years ago, the next owner was/is a CF member.

I loved my C5 - won shows and turned heads everywhere I went. I sold her to buy my C7. I dont regret it for a second - but the C5 is an amazing car...for sure.

When I bought my first Vette it was a 01 z06. I have to admit I was amazed at the time what a great car it was. That is until they bumped the HP in 02 and the 01 forever got the rep as an oil burner.

One thing i could never understand though. With all the engineering expertise at GM why could they never get something as simple as a column lock right. Or at least fix them properly.

In spite of your opinion, the C5-1999 Corvette convertible, and the 1999 Mercedes S500 were jointly awarded the best engineered cars of the 20th century, for the decade of the 90's, by SAE International.

I owned one, and agree wholeheartedly with that decision.

GM went belly up in the 2000s. The Federal Government gave them welfare dollars to stay in business. Their unfunded liabilities were also reset by Federal Judgeship. Many retirees got shafted, but thems the breaks.

The Corvette wasn't relevant until the C7 since the C3. I sold my C3 in 1978, and sat on the sidelines while they've self destructed through the late C3 through the C6es.

I got on board once I started checking out the C7. I'm in. When I have problems with my C7, I still want them rectified. No mercy. I did my job buying a new one. Now I expect them to do their job. End of story.

ALL Corvettes are WHITE. The rest are mistakes. The book was mis-titled. Red wasn't on the C1 for several years - ALL Corvettes are WHITE - since 1953. The rest are mistakes. Look it up!

Read the book...its a great read. I've read it several times...it really helps you understand the mess inside GM.....but more importantly it reveals how one man (Jim Perkins) put his job at risk to save our beloved Corvette.

Same with my '69 Chevelle SS396. 2nd worse car I ever owned (1st was a BRG '66 MGB that wouldn't start in the rain!).

I've had Red C2s & C3s all others have been Silver or Black. If resale is important to you, best to stick with Red, Black, Silver or White. I've never had a white vehicle, except for my delivery trucks for my business.

Meh, all I know is that the very first Corvettes were white and white is the only color that has been available for every year of Corvette.
