How often is everyone changing there oil? My c7 is not my daily car to drive and after adding 1200 miles from the first oil change my car is informing it needs it. Either the light didn't get reset or the dealer didn't do the work.
I have never experienced a car that needs an oil change so soon and was told that even though it sleeps in a garage with a car cover that it could still happen.
I follow the oil life monitor. It's based on usage and time, so even if your car sat for an extended period, the oil life is going down. It's your car and up to you though if you want to change it or not.

Thanks. It's new for me. My daily car gives over 6000 so big difference with the vette.

Is the service manager hustling me?
I know my C6 and I'm confident my '93 and '88 Vettes (and other new cars I have purchased) said: "Change oil when the oil life indicator says or after XXX miles OR AFTER ONE YEAR WHICHEVER IS FIRST!"
That has been the standard wording for years. However the C7 is the first Vette to include time in the OLM algorithm. Even just sitting moisture from the air condenses in the crankcase. Worse is folks who use their car for short trips or just pull it out of the garage to get something than put it right back. When starting, the pistons are cold and leave more space between themselves and the cylinder walls. This allows more of the rich stating gas mixture and combustion products (which includes lots of water) to leak past and get into and contaminate the oil. You need to drive long enough to fully heat the oil.
In my ProStreet Rod, that mostly goes to shows, if I have to move it out of the garage to get something, I drive about 20 miles to warm up the oil (and have some fun!) It sits for months between car shows and logs very few miles and I change the oil in the 8.2 Liter Chevy engine every year!
With the rebates available from Mobil, bought Mobil 1 for a final ~$2/quart! I change my own so consider it low cost insurance!
I put about 1k/month. Change oil at 5,000 miles to keep it simple. I would change oil at least once a year if you don't put on many miles. Dry sump cars require the 500 mile change.
The oil life indicator went to 10% in 6 months, 800 miles. I just reset it.
Your car, do as you wish but reminds me of my warnings to my wife with her dry sump Porsche Cayenne! She didn't listen and others probably won't either! She would often drive the car to her girlfriends 2 miles away and back! Or worse the 1/2 mile to the clubhouse, park for an hour then back home!
The worse thing for the oil and the engine in general is starting and letting it run for a short time and never having the oil get hot! The GM OLM algorithm takes these factors into account. With only 800 miles you may have had than situation.
While in the start-up mode the mixture is rich. The pistons are cold leaving more space between themselves and the cylinder walls. The products of combustion include lots of water. That water and rich fuel mixture leak down into the crankcase oil. If the oil is allowed to get fully hot the water and acids it causes boils off. It not it just accumulates.
I change the oil and filter every year no matter the miles about when I have to annual renew my license plate with the DMV. If the oil monitor said the oil life was low recommended change prior I would do it then. Clean Mobile 1 is great for the motor and cheap insurance for long engine life. Changing the oil once a year regardless of what the oil life meter says has been working well for me.

Well I change my oil every 6 months whether or not I meet the 6000 miles !!! Wayne
I've got an air compressor I made from a used lawnmower engine. It's been running flawlessly on the oil that was in it when I did the conversion in 1968. Oil changes are highly overrated.
