Default Does alarm system include engine area

I just purchased a 2016 Shark grey coupe. I had the hood opened and the door open. When I shut the door 7 seconds later the horn sounded and the doors were locked (passive lock on), and the light did blink on the dash saying the alarm was armed. But the hood was still opened. Isn't there supposed to be a sensor in the engine area that will not allow the alarm to arm with the hood still opened? Or is the hood not protected by the alarm system?

If you walk away with the hood opened there is no alarm to protect the engine area but if you have a 2LT or 3 LT the motion sensor alarm should activate if the car was leaned on or jostled.

With my 2LT, i left the hood unlatched by accident. I didn't think about it when i opened the hood it got set off and message in the display said something hood opened. Same when i stuck my arm in the window scared the hell out of me because it was in the garage and forgot about it 1LT doesn't have that feature.

I don't know about the hood, but if I have a dual action polisher on the vette with the doors locked, the alarm goes off

Maybe something changed?? My 14 will not arm unless the hood is down and the doors and trunk are closed. Any of those items open will stop my alarm from setting. The passenger side hood latch has a switch on it. Also, I have a convertible.
