Will you love her forever?

Drifting
When a car is new and I'm excited about it, I'll promise to drive it to 100k.
I'll then take extra good care of it but trade at 50-60k. I get excited about the new models.
That being said, I'll soon take an early retirement and may not have the luxury to be so financially extravagant. If my next Vette (which I'll purchase this fall) is reliable, the 100K mark might become a reality for me, lol.

Bought my first Corvette in 2001 when I ordered my TR 2002 coupe on 9/8/2001, 3 days before 9/11 and almost cancelled the order thinking it was a selfish thing to do in the midst of all that tragedy. Then I realized it was a very patriotic gesture to buy the American icon of cars and that it was a show of pride and support. I took delivery on Oct. 29 and decided then would always keep the first Corvette I ever owned. It was a childhood dream to own a red Corvette.
I bought another C5 a few years later for my wife but we sold that one and now have a '14 C7 as my daily driver. I doubt I will keep the C7 for more than a few years - probably trade it on a Z or similar when I'm ready to retire myself and it.
Found this under the C5's passenger fender last year in the middle of a project.

It kind of depends on the car. Not often, but every now and then, a car comes along and is like that pair of your favorite jeans. Worn in, comfortable, familiar and just fits. My C6 ZR I ordered new in '10 and kept since, has done that. My C7 surpasses it in tech and overall ability, but whenever I climb in the ZR, I think, "Nice to see you again, old friend - - let's go have some fun."
My C7 is working itself into that category as well.
But never is a long time. In the meantime, if you're having fun with it, and it's paid for, what the hell. Keep it and enjoy it.

Have a friend who bought a 2005 C6, new. He told me it was his last Corvette. He's had three since.
I love my '16 C7. However, hope to have one or two more new Corvettes before I pass on.

I was fortunate enough to be able to be in a position to pay cash for a brand new C7 Z51 3LT Cyber Gray Metallic Stingray when they first started rolling off the line in BG back in 2013...She is mine.
I am 64 and have never had a car that I loved more!
I will never trade her or sell her for the latest model...
Does anyone else feel that way about their Stingray?

Although I'm making payments, they won't last forever. Then that money will go towards my retirement account. My '14 is the only new Vette I've bought. The others were used, but well cared for. The moment I saw the C7 revealed, I knew it was the one. My last one.

Like T2Bluetwo I ordered my car with the color and options I wanted, followed it through the build process, and was one of the first in Northern California to have one. It was and is very special because of all this. I love the car, and don't plan on getting rid of it, and if all goes as planned I'll keep it even if I get another Corvette or sports car. I love the naturally aspirated V8 and manual transmission, and I feel that these will be harder to come by in the future - especially in California, land of gun haters and Prius lovers.
That said, I've had other cars I said I would keep forever, and now they are gone. I didn't like them as much as the Corvette though.

Tonight she is mine completely-but will I love her tomorrow?-as the Chirelles say. The answer is yes.

I'm glad you feel that way!
Cars are just possessions to me. I rarely keep them more than 3 years. There were 2 exceptions. Both Corvettes. I picked up a 93 about 10 years ago that I still have and I had my 2008 for 7 years. Every other car was gone within 3 years. I just don't keep cars and I usually wind up breaking even at the 2.5 year mark.

My 2016 LT-1 is a keeper for sure! In my opinion, the C7 will go down in history as an all-time iconic design, in the same class with the '63 Corvette and the first generation Jaguar E-Type.

I am in the market for a new 2017 convertible. My 2014 is going on three years, cars start showing their age even if stored and never driven. Currently not interested in a mid engine version (could change my mind, it will have to be a convertible and have a manual transmission).
