Since we've been having hot weather in MI for a couple of months now, I've been using the cooling feature on the seats. I am wondering what kind of experience others are having with their cooled seats.
Here's what I've experienced - once the seat was getting so cold I had to turn the setting down to just one bar so I didn't freeze my butt off. Other times I can usually feel some coolness, but not much; and other times I wonder if it's working at all.
Is my experience normal or should I take it in for repairs?
They are not cooled, just ventilated, so the amount of cooling is entirely dependent on the cabin air temp (specifically the air under the seat), the humidity in the air, and how damp your backside is. They function like a swamp cooler, so when your clothing is damp, and the air is dry and cool(er), that is when they work best.

The seats just circulate cabin air. If the AC is in they are REALLY cold. AC off--kind of neutral. also make sure the AC is directing some cold air towards the floor--this even works for my convertible with the top down!
Okay, I get it now. I did know that a fan would circulate air through the seat, but I didn't know where the air was coming from. I thought there might be a line from the HVAC directly to the intake for air for the seats, but I now know that is wrong.
Principal:
Mine works just like yours does; one time very cool, next time not so much. As said above, it's all in the cool air circulating to the floor and how hot the interior of the car is. Ex: (You live not too far from me) When driving up to Soaring Eagle from my house (couple hour drive) by the time I get to the Lansing area I've already turned the seat from max vent, to low vent.
disappointing.. even when AC is on high and towards the floor, barely feel a thing.
Don't even notice it is on.. not at all like other vehicles we've had with cooled/vented seats.. Going to have them checked when have the Beast in for next service..

Also depends on what you're wearing. Jeans don't cool nearly as well as thinner material shorts!
the HVAC unit on "Auto" sends little of the AC to the floor. Instead, select the mode where it's almost all going to the floor (or all going to the floor if you must) and the seat ventilation will cool better.
eta: I think I understand why you answered the way you did, but:
Both the ventilated and heated seats can be set to turn on via vehicle settings for remote start. No lights will show on the dash, and when you enter the car and press start, they will turn off at that point and will need to be restarted.
Make sure you only turn one on, or neither will work.
eta: The hvac does turn on to the same settings as the last shut-off during remote start.
