Magnetic shocks... 3 are leaking

Your leaking shocks were likely functioning normally, and may well have continued to do so for 20,30,40K miles. However, it's good you caught them while you were still under warranty, and I will check mine thanks to your post.
I do believe these are also covered under the "Platinum" extended warranties as well.

is it around the same price for c7? 4400 ouch!
how many won't get it on their next vette?

First, don't make the dealer do this unless you're still in warranty. Swapping the shocks is a simple task. Second, for $4,400 you could be buying the DSC Tractive race shocks which are far better quality and perform better.

I had a driver side rear damper on my C6 start to leak @ 4 years and 2,400 miles. Was told that "some" seepage is acceptable (?). Mine was not to the point that it messed with the sticker just a light film that picked up dust. Sold the car in January w/6458 miles and the damper was dry...go figure. This always had me worried even when I ordered the car with F55 but in the scheme of things I do not believe damper failure is that common. I have MSR on my new car and do not worry about it. It's not a big issue now that you can buy replacement dampers for $350 and not $900 like years ago. Glad that you caught it and are getting them replaced under warranty. For all that have purchased GMPP extended insurance they were NOT covered and were one of the small print exclusions a few years back.

I keep reading the posts on this thread about someone paying $4,000. Y'all need to look at that "invoice" again. It was a quote that was pulled up out of the system, not an actual invoice. Look at a warranty repair order sometime. Even though there is no charge they usually show a retail price for parts that is generally a lot higher than they can be bought for.

Yes, this is an older thread, and that "invoice" in post #7 has been posted multiple times on this forum. It's both out of date, and not an accurate reflection of today's prices. Four OEM MSRC shocks for the C7 can be purchased for under $1500, or about the price of a set of tires.

how long does it last under normal use?
1500 and very comfortable ride plus great at the track, min nose dive , side way crazy etc. I might keep doing it if it breaks

FWIW, the two rear magnetic shocks on my C6 failed at just 70k. The car would "porpoise" severely on bumps at higher speeds, almost to the point that the car would feel like it was going to lose control.

I already had one replaced twice under warranty and another replaced under "good will" for 650 including labor. If you look on eBay you might be able to find them on there, I found a couple OEM replacements for 250 USD....they are not cheap if you go through the dealership, 1000 bucks a pop.

No, they don't "break that easily." You apparently didn't notice Patman's report was for a C6, which is 10-year old technology. No system on any vehicle is perfect, and occasionally you'll see a bad run of parts, but MSRC failures are now rare.
This thread is nearly a year old with only 5 reports of failure, 2 were on a C6s, another a 2005 Cadillac, and only 2 were on C7s. That should tell you something. Some people get struck by lightning too, but it doesn't happen very often.

Even though I didn't have good luck with the Magnetic Ride shocks on my C6, I really hope to find a used C7 that has the system on it. I am pretty confident that the C7's system is going to be more reliable in the long run and it's benefits are worth the extra expense even if the shocks need replacing down the road.

I'm not sure if it's related but 1.5 years go I hit an unmarked hole hard enough to kill my front tire on the p.side, the construction company ended up paying 850 for new tires and it was the p.side shocks (f/r) that were replaced.

2 more replaced last week
First off they are NOT covered by gmepp they are considered wear and tear items.
Failures are not that rare!!!!!
Second... I noticed my fronts were leaking again (after 600 miles and having all 4 replaced) 3 months to get parts and we're off and running again 🤔🤔🤔
I would skip this expensive nuisance in the future!!!

They are NOT covered by old GMPP extended warranty program, which was sold to Ally in 2009.
I am covered by GMEPP, and the terms specifically list shocks as a covered expense. MSRC coverage has been checked and re-checked by many when evaluating whether to purchase either a GMEPP or a GMPP plan from Ken Fichtner. GMEPP coverage has been verified.
And yes, failures are very rare. You are only one data point. There are very few other reports of MSRC shock problems on this forum, yet 100s of reports of A8 problems.
Are you sure you're not parking on a toxic waste dump?
