I've been absent since restoring a 60 Vette 4 speed ground up for a buddy's wife. Her Dad willed her the car; he was a BG and pilot in the USAF. Pretty amazing original paint car. The paint and chrome came to life quite nicely after sitting under a shed for ten years.
I did search the threads, but couldn't find what I was looking for.
The price for a loaded 2016 convertible with auto and added Z07 package with MSRPs approximately at $112K are close to $100K now. Very tempted to buy.
But, I am concerned about the very much publicized engine and heating issues. I won't be at the track, so I am wondering if I should be overly concerned if I buy a 2016 Z06 /Z07 package car? Thanks in advance.
Nice job on the '60 except for the late 1964 wheelcovers. Minor to replace though with correct ones.
If you have no plans to track the Z06, why not skip the Z07 option and use that expensive option money against a new 2017 Z06?
You will end up with a year newer car and it appears that there will be some significant improvements made for the 2017's, including some to "fix" the overheating along with possibly a new front fascia, etc.
Personally, I would go for the M7(and save some $3,000) as I feel the jury is still out on the A8.
I have a '16 Z with absolutely no heating issues. That being said, as it's already August, I personally would wait for a '17... unless you can find a '16 exactly the way you want it. There are some great deals
If you are not going to track the Z I would not be concerned with those issues. So wherever you get the best deal 2016 or 2017 that would be the decision maker for me.
