Default Bucket List Drives

I am really excited to be crossing off one of my bucket list items by finally buying my dream car with the order of a 2017 Grand Sport and having Museum delivery.

Another item on my bucket list is touring all 50 states. While I'm not sure I'll get to do all in my new C7, I would like your input in identifying the must experience "bucket list drives" in each state. You know... those back road, windy, scenic drives that were just made for a corvette.

Please provide: State, City, Road, Start/End Points, Scenic Stops, Thrill Sections and what you enjoyed most.

Welcome to the forum Joel, and congrats on the order of that GS.

Without a doubt Route 66 is my favorite, plus that's eight states you can mark off your list. Plus the ones you drive through to get to Chicago, or California depending on where you're starting from.

BTW, there are some good scenic road web sites out there.

I95 from Philly to Boston... (just kidding).

I cast my vote for the Pacific Coast Highway... a Bucket List road if there ever was one.

1 and 101 (whichever is closer to the Ocean) Los Angeles clear up through Washington State around Crescent Lake to Port Angeles before you head back south, maybe stop in Seattle--or contact me and we'll put you up. Curves and scenery galore and lots to do: Monterey, San Simeon Castle, Oregon beaches. Getting behind a motor home is a bitch, but that's now a joke on t-shirts there. Over 1,000 miles long, too. A lot of the curves are on hills, almost three-dimensional.

Or you could go straight up I-5. We call it, "The Grinder."*

* Ahh, No. Don't do that. Trust me.

There are far too many twisty, empty mountain roads here in CO to begin to list.

The Million Dollar Highway (Hwy 550) from Montrose to Durango is one of the best.

Tail of the dragon(Deals Gap, North Carolina and Tennessee border) if you like the curves on your ride! Not as scenic as the others listed but perhaps more fun? 318 curves in 11 miles!

Hey! Lucky me! We're headed on a Road Trip to Gunnison in a few days, then to 4 corners. Looks like we can take that road!

It's hard to pick just one such drive in California since the terrain is quite diverse and there are many. PCH from Monterey to LA is very scenic and lots of turns. Here's another one I did which I liked

Notice it says curves next 140 miles!

And some Redwood trees.

A lot of bikers also do this route. Here's a link - http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/10....7rNU8RU6.dpbs

Blue Ridge Parkway. Fort Royal Virginia to Ashville NC. Once you are there then do the Dragon.

Be sure to drive the tail during the middle of the week. It gets crowded on the weekends.

In GA, drive GA 60 in the Chattahoochee National Forest.
In FL, drive US1 to the Keys, but time it for sunset on the way in, spend a day in the keys relaxing and then drive out for sunrise. Sunset on the 7 mile bridge is pretty incredible.

Trail Ridge road in Colorado. Highest continuously paved road (it goes somewhere, not just to a summit) in North America

PCH as mentioned by others. Some nice roads in the Napa Valley.
Don't remember the Hwy but the drive from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe is good.

Trail Ridge Road from Estes Park into Rocky Mountain National Park in CO.
Mt. Evans in CO - outside of Denver.

Just did a Bucket List trip from La Jolla to Monterey, CA on the Coast Hwy. Lunch at the Rock & Roll Diner in Oceano is a must. Then to Jamestown, CA to see and ride old steam trains and on to Yosemite Valley on SR 120 (lots of twists). The return was the Napa Valley, Muir Woods, and San Francisco. It was great fun even though I was driving a new Mustang GT convert. No Corvette, but not a bad car.

Entering Yosemite Park

Railtown in Jamestown, CA

Carmel By The Sea

The Roll & Roll Diner

The Dragon is fun but the surrounding roads are even better. I loved the Moonshiner 28. Very fast sweepers following a river in a beautiful gorge.

The Pacific coast highway is very high on my list.
If you ever get to Utah, don't miss Utah Rt 128 along the Colorado River, in the vicinity of Arches N.P. The 14 miles from Moab to the Red Cliffs Lodge are pretty spectacular.
I'm planning a trip next summer to Wyoming/Montana to experience the Beartooth Highway to Yellowstone NP and the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier NP.

Michigan suggestions.

For a scenic drive, M-22 in the northwestern lower peninsula, on the shores of Lake Michigan. Benzie and Leelanau Counties. lakemichigancircletour.com Expand the drive a little longer up through Harbor Springs, Lake Shore Drive (M-119).

For fun, Woodward Avenue the third week of August . . . the week of the Woodward Dream Cruise

Highway 23 in Arkansas (pigtrail) from Eureka Springs to Ozark. Very scenic and twisty.
