Default Headlight lense availability?

A stone hit and cracked one of my headlight lenses. Chevrolet does not sell just the lense but sells the entire unit for $995 list price. The lense is all that is needed and is easily replaced if available. Is there a source for just the lense? Help!!

I don't have any experience with the C7 lens, but on most cars the lens is permanently sealed to the headlamp casing.

There have been threads in other forums of previous cars I've owned where they bake the headlamp in the oven to loosen the glue and pull it off to do modifications. Sounds a bit scary to me...

Sounds like ypu potentially have an insurance claim, depending on your deductible.

My deductible is $1000. My real point is that Chevy requires payment of $995 for an entire unit when only the lense is needed. Likely the lense could be sold for $200 and Checy would make a nice margin and keep customer satisfaction by doing so.

Sorry, but the lens is glued to the housing with two part polyurethane adhesive. It is not possible to remove the lens without destroying the lamp assembly. Look on eBay. Typically you can find a replacement for under $500.

Suggest you go to the C6 section and "search" for headlight lens replacement". It will describe the "oven" method that has been used. I assume the assembly is similar to the C6. And as I recall there was some guy or company that would do it for a price.
