2016 Nav

2016 Nav
Is the NAV in a 2016 C7 any good? I can get an IO6 module at a good deal. I have been using my phone for NAV, but it'd be nice if it were integrated. (Apple Maps and car play is not an option)

Hopefully it's is better than the NAV in my 2015 Impala. In that car the ETA is consistently way off and it wants to direct me to take a different route than I want to take - and it takes a long time to adjust to the route I have chosen. I have played with the settings and have even called customer service as mentioned in the owner's manual and all I get from them is we are aware of some issues and are working on it - with no estimated date of completion.
My Garmin Nuvi is spot on with the ETA and while it may initially direct me to a different route than what I want to go, it will adjust more quickly and recalculate the to the route I have chosen. I wish GM used Garmin for their vendor on this feature.
Other than that, it is nice to have the NAV integrated into the infotainment system.
I know this is on a car other than the C7, but it's my experience with the GM navigation system. Perhaps the C7 owners have had better results with theirs.

IMO, the 2016 Infotainment/Nav/PDR works great. I own a 2016 Z51, 3LT, A8.

I am happy with the nav in my 2016 and it is far better than that in my 2014 Cadillac ATS which is very stubborn about adapting to my new route when I deviate from its instructions. The 2016 Z06 seems to quickly accept my newly chosen course.
Both are initially off in terms of ETA however they do update pretty quickly. ETA is based upon posted speed limits and most of us drive faster; obey the law and ETA is probably going to be far more accurate from the start

The 2016 NAV is much improved and much more intuitive.
However, the only negative is that Updates cost $$ while IPhone updates are free.
IPhone with Bluetooth and Google Maps is a winning combo also, but you lose the HUD interface.

My 2015 Nav sys works just fine. I actually like the Travel Link "traffic overlay" much better than the display on my Acura & Edge. The red/green/yellow are a touch more off-set than the other cars and makes them much easier to see at a glance, rather than having too look for several seconds to pick them out of the clutter.

I wish Car Play supported Google Maps!! Using Apple Maps is out of the question (garbage), I just really miss the large display.

I switch between Nav and Android auto frequently depending on whether I want to connect my phone. The factory Nav works really well. Although you don't get the benefit of "real time" traffic alerts and re-routes or being able to program a destination verbally.

I really like the NAV with my 2016. A lot of flexibility in how you want to use. I just use voice commands to enter addresses for the most part. And it links to my cell phone and can use the address book in there. It has been quite excellent for me. I don't really know why some don't like it to be perfectly frank.

I have the factory nav in my '15 and am very happy with it, zero complaints. Keep in mind that the factory navigation is integrated with the HUD (2LT and 3LT), can be set to display nav info on the 8" center screen and / or the 8" screen behind the steering wheel, and it includes the Performance Data Recorder. I wouldn't consider owning one of these cars without it.

I used it twice on my '16 Z, and it worked flawlessly.
Had the top off, so I had to turn up the volume, but once I figured that out...

I have the 2016 C7 NAV but still use 'Waze' app on my iPhone. I wish it would display on the car screen but it doesn't. Anyway, WAZE is my favorite Nav app. Give it a try just for kicks if you haven't yet.

Love mine in my 2016. It's the best integrated Nav I've owned.
Voice command works really well and links to phone contacts. Voice command is so good, it causes me grief when I try to use voice command on the wife's 2012 Grand Cherokee, which by the way is no where near as user friendly.
It's the only nav I have used that could get me out of NYC and on to my preferred route without difficulty.
I like being able to send destinations to it through the OnStar app (maybe the My Chevrolet too, haven't checked it yet).
The only problem I have had, and it is minor, is it does not offer any route alternatives. If you want to go a different way than it thinks is best, you have to program a waypoint to force it to your route of choice.
