I received a phone call yesterday from the selling dealer telling me there are two Recalls on my 2016 Corvette. Both are for Software updates. One for the Vented Seats which in my car work great and the second one they said was a performance update. First off why didn't Chevy send me a notice .... and second I wouldn't bring a roller skate to this dealer....Did anyone else get a notice on them.....especially want to know what the "performance" update is all about.
These are not recalls, they are TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins).
Dealerships are not required, nor is GM, to send notices to customers. They can be done...or not.
Usually one finds out about these bulletins when bringing the car in for routine service work (oil changes, inspections, etc.).
The vented seat update has to do with remote start (they don't turn on if you used remote start).
The "performance update" is the missing performance (0-60) timer from earlier '16 builds.
P.S. - Obxchartercaptain - Just noticed your other thread regarding your car's first anniversary, Happy Anniversary! So you're likely in the same boat as I am with an early '16 build and would need the performance timer update. I'm planning to get mine done in the next couple of weeks, but there are a couple of other threads on here regarding it, seems to work out fine.

The dealership did call me....that's how I found out about them. And the woman who called me said it was a RECALL. I guess since I am happy with the way everything works I'll pass on finding a dealer to bring it to have it done. I change my own oil....and so far, haven't had any serious issues.

My guess they just tell people its a recall, since most wont understand what a Technical Service Bulletin is.
I think I received a notice from the selling dealer, but I don't believe it was phrased as a recall. I get enough of those on my other cars (damn Takata air bags!)
It's just a way for them to drum up warranty work. I would consider getting the updates done. The HMI update with the latest and the performance timer fixed. If nothing else, when the warranty is up, they wont do them for free and you might change your mind later and want it. I had both done and it is painless.

I believe these updates are free only if done within a year, not the entire warranty period - at least that's what I was told. I had both done and agree that it is painless.
It's 2016... you'd think that they could download software via Onstar, or some other cellular means. Even Dodge/Ram has a mechanism, via their Uconnect system, to download most software updates to your PC/MAC, and then transfer the data using a USB thumb drive to your vehicle. Ford is working on a similar technique with their SYNC 3 system.

In the TSB is states that it expires with the warranty.

I have not taken my Vette in for any service problem, will go it for this update.

Moreover, why would you take your car to a dealer that can't tell the difference between a TSB and a recall?
