Burnout with a manual transmission.
Got a easy question. What is the perfect way to do a burnout with a manual transmission without moving down the street. I know I did a good one with track mode selected and the double tap to put it in competitive mode. however I don't want to move I went about 30 yards and laid some serious rubber down. I seen videos of hitting the breaks and keep revving it and I just wanna know if this is correct. I got plenty of money for tires so I'm ready to lay some rubber in my 2016 z51 7 speed. Thanks again and sorry for being such a corvette newbie ( this is my first one) but I will be racing in 2 weeks. I chickened out today because I was scared but I see everyone burning/warming up their tires before racing.

Statement of the week!
You answered your own question. The brakes. Enough to hold the car but not so much to lock all the wheels.

Applying the breaks, as stated above, is the only way outside of anchoring the car. Rev her up, dump the clutch and put on the breaks. Another thing that will help is to put a little water down in front of the rear tires and drive through it, getting the tires wet which will allow for an easier start to spinning them.
Get us some video of this...I love watching money go up in smoke. As long as it's not mine.

Line locks are popular, but in the interim, pop the clutch and hold the brake.

I tried... Only was able to smell my clutch. Tires are one thing, a clutch is something else. As soon as I would give it gas I stomped on the brake and it stalled very abruptly. I kept at it a few more times, car wouldn't start after the 3rd or 4th burnout attempt.
Dumping the clutch didn't work, I think you need to feather it, let the car forward a bit, then hit the brakes. I won't be trying again any time soon.
Good luck!

When you "gave it gas" did you rev it up to 5k? I would bet your revs were not high enough. Keep it at 5kish. You can dump or feather the clutch, just make sure to get on the brake quick! If your left foot is on the brake and right foot on the gas, the clutch will not burn. Your rear brake pads on the otherhand... and tires =p

Hell no I didn't take it to 5k! Figures that's what it would take. Maybe, someday again, I'll get 'r another go.

Ben Casey is having trouble doing a burn out. Turn traction control off, get RPM to 3000, dump clutch (don't slip clutch), immediately give it more gas to 5k and again immediately hold the car from rolling with the foot brake. Most difficult part is getting your left foot off the clutch and onto the brake immediately. Just hold the brake hard enough to keep the car from rolling.
