I was going to ask this earlier because I have a 2017 GS A8 and it's doing a lot of what my 2015 did. I hope I'm just being paranoid.
Tach all over the place on flat roads with no throttle input, a hard shift into 2nd in a parking lot and a shudder when it shifts at highway speeds. Is this just the way it is? I had the torque converter replaced in the 2015 and it became worse, along with a host of squeaks and rattles. I was so happy to have been able to trade it, and now this.
roSSco..........you can come back any time and post you are putting us on. If not I feel so bad for you. I hope after going through the A8 issues you mentioned with your 2015 Corvette history is not repeating itself. I was under a general impression that a new redesigned TC was added to the A8 and by mid year 2016 all was well. Not saying A8 could not still have issues but ongoing A8 problems into 2017 is a head scratcher.

I have a 11-11-2015 build group Z51 A8, and knock on wood, so far it's acted as I would expect.
I normally leave it in auto, and rarely use the paddle shifters, mostly in Touring mode, sometimes sport, and sometimes Track modes. And now have ~700 miles on it, about 3/4 highway driving.

that's not enough miles for an accurate assessment, garage queens probably won't exhibit any issues until 10 years from now when you break 2k on the odometer

I have a 2015 C-7, with one of the first A8's, car built 10-14, and had all the symptoms of a bad torque converter starting at around 9-10K miles. The torque converter was changed out on 2-5-16 (13K miles) for the new revised torque converter. I have had NO further problems with the transmission and I now have 18K on the car. You would think GM was using the revised T/C prior to 2-5-16. I think it was reported on the forum that the new revised T/C's were being used starting in 11-15, not positive of this date.
FYI I have had my car since 8/6 and it had 2 miles on it when I took delivery of it. My wife and I are the only ones that have driven it and we have adhered to the break in procedure to a T. Current mileage is 444.

According to TSB #16-NA-014 issued June 28, 2016, manufacturing updates to the A8 were made on cars beginning 10/28/15. My car was built 11/18/15. I have 4,800 miles on it with no symptoms of any of the A8 issues described.
Was the A8 issue fixed with the 2017 model? What exactly is the issue so I'll know if my car does it? Mine will be delivered sometime in September.
with due respect, I own a 2016 Stingray Z51, A8, build date 10/2016. No issues what so ever. 2016 A8s are fine, especially the mid to late model year. My understanding 2016 model year issues were addressed and corrected by GM engineering.
To all of those who state you have no issues; does your tach jump 200-300 rpms while on a flat surface between 45 & 70 mph w/o throttle input?
Mine did, but it jumped around 100 rpms when I was in cruise control on a flat road. It would continue to move up and down when I was at a constant speed. After the new revised T/C, no more movement, rpms hold steady while in cruise control or at a constant speed.

My early 2016 (built July 10, 2015) just had the TC replaced.
2016's built after 10/2015 "should" be okay - time will tell for sure

Now, this on the other hand, the other day I started the car and fairly quickly put it in reverse, and I could tell the engagement was a little soft at first. Clearly full pressure was not available yet. But I basically started it and then immediately shifted into reverse. No other time have I noticed (or done) this. And it was all over in a seconds or so, a 5 second pause would have likely made it okay, as it's not been a problem before.

Same here, mine was built 10/2015, seems perfect. FYI, it is possible to get it to shift a bit rough into second in a parking lot, if you are not maintaining speed. I have had it clunk into second (not hard, just noticeable) once or twice, but it was because I confused it with my actions... Like accelerating and then letting off right when it is ready to shift, then accelerating again. Really rare though. They are finicky that way, but as long as you are driving normally, it is smooth as silk.
