What's crazy about a simple statement of fact? You don't agree that the BMW is "safer"?
No, because everyone knows BMW drivers are douchebags so the driver won't be wearing a seatbelt and his Ambercrombie shirt won't protect him in a wreck
No question that the M6 has great acceleration numbers and is a great touring car. I just detest "sporty" cars weighing over 2 tons, and the fattening of cars in general. I would never consider anything that fat except in a "family hauler."
I have no doubts that I'm in the minority, but I would trade HP for weight any day. Moreover, straight line times just don't impress me. What a car does in the corners is the only thing that matters to me.
After all, the Corvette Racing Team C7R only has 491HP, but weighs only 2700 lbs. It might well lose to many street cars in a 1/4 mile race, but it's a legendary "World Champion."
The C7 will win, my base M7 edged one at a stop light. We both wanted to get on the freeway and I was in the proper lane to egress and the M6 thought I was going to let him in, he was being rather di*kish about it. So I decided that I would return the favor.
I know, I know...not at all nice and certainly not the way to improve the Corvette image...

If it was the new m6 you would have lost in a freeway duel. If you're stock that is.
Am I the only one who doesn't care if a 2 upside down bathtub on wheels with a crap load of HP strapped to it can beat me in a race?
Nope, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't give a crap about how great a car performs if it looks like nothing special to me. A BMW happens to fall into that category for me, as well as the GTR and countless other high performance cars. Corvette has something most of them do not, the look and design I want in a sports car.

Ditto. Moreover, I don't care about straight-line racing.
Sports cars are all about successfully balancing multiple performance parameters, which include speed, grip, braking, and minimal weight (among others) in order to adeptly negotiate both straights and hairpin corners in the least amount of time. No doubt in my mind who wins that kind of race.
