I make the run almost every year from Cape Cod - 8 hours give or take.
Whether you're new to the Corvette World or an 'old salt' there is something for everyone.
Cars, parts, accessories, manufacturer's row, installer's alley, autocross, Saturday night parade, you name it!
There is even a nice Ladies Oasis area for the ladies that get tired of looking at a bunch of cars and dirty parts...
Sun block, comfortable shoes, and Have Fun!

Do Muslims make the haj to Mecca?
Do your adult children try to move back in?
It's not "is the trip worth it?, its a question of "must"....

I am lucky, it is only about a fortyfive minute drive for me. I attend about every other year or so, usually I am ready to purchase another Corvette. I will be attending on Friday this year working towards replacing my 2014 with a 2017. You will enjoy the experience.

Absolutely 100% worth the trip, I've done it 8 times in the last 9 years.
Make sure you have at least 2 full days there if you want to experience it all. It is that large and takes all that time to just walk around and check stuff out.
On the hotel, I'm afraid trying to wing it is risky. The decent hotels tend to fill up quickly and whatever is left over will cost more than it's worth. I'd suggest trying to book online before going and possibly looking at the west side of Harrisburg for more hotels and better deals.

Went last year for the first time and well worth the trip from Central Mass. Spent too much money on parts and rode home with the back crammed with goodies. Going again this year - can't wait and hoping for sun, sun and more sun!

Grateful that I'm only :30 from there! Scheduled days off to go 2 or 3 days!

I have been to Carlisle every year since 1998. My wife and I have driven her '62 since 2002, 420 miles. There is something new to see every year. There have been a few years that featured unbearable heat or a small tornado, but the trip is definitely worth it, especially if you have never been there.
We usually stay in Shippensburg at the Best Western, about a 20 minute drive to the fairgrounds in Carlisle. The Fun Field pass http://store.carlisleevents.com/Sear...lts.asp?Cat=29 is the best deal for two people in a Corvette if you are going for more than one day. With the Fun Field pass you and one passenger can park your Corvette inside the fairgrounds everyday for $75. Plan to arrive at the fairgrounds early (7:00-7:30) to get a good parking place.

It can get very hot and then there is always the chance of a severe storm pooping up. Now you can pay for a reserve spot on the show field which has been dominated by clubs and lone wolfs can park up on the hill and have to walk. Many hotels will not book for one night and if you do find one be prepared to pay because clubs get their special rates and it is supply and demand. Between the heat, traffic congestion from the turnpike and getting into the fair grounds, storms and high prices its not a bad show. I have been going to Carlisle since the 70's when it was a lot different from what it is today.

I live in Hagerstown, MD about an hours drive south of Carlisle via I81. Lots of motels available if you can't find one closer. It is, I think, the largest Corvette show in the US. Well worth a trip but dress for heat and rain showers. Lots of vendors selling and installing just about anything you could want for your Corvette.
