Default Windshield: Repair or Replace?

A rock hit the windshield it not only chipped but by the time I got home the crack expanded. My question is, do you think it can be repaired or do I need to get the windshield replaced?

Normally I would have it replaced but since these windshields are so soft I expect I will get more chips over the next year or so at which time I will have it replaced.

you need that replaced - no question about that. fixing would be a safety issue.

If it were only a bulls eye, I would say to fix it. but since it's now a full blown crack, replace it.

Here in Delaware, 5 inches and it's an automatic failure. That needs to be replaced.

edit: Did some reasearch, like the mohs scale for minerals, compared to harder silicate glass, "soft" glass will scratch and haze easier but won't break or chip as easily.
