Naked Stingray (Follow-up to 'Oops')
So here it sits with half its clothes off. The body shop called me yesterday to let me know it was ready for me to take pictures. They were very nice and accommodating.
It's almost smiling.
What's that over the fender liner?
It looks like an antenna. Anybody know which one? Nav or sat radio?
Another mystery box.
And another. Any ideas?
From the port aft quarter. The driver's door is in bubble wrap in the box.
One of two antennas behind the rear fascia. Radio or key fob proximity?
The offending part.
I'll update again once it's finished. You can see it at the NCM Anniversary event. Thanks for all the nice comments on the other post.

I gotta ask and now you have me really worried. Did all of those panels have to come off for this repair?? I had a similar accident about the same time you did while changing the brake pads. I have repaired the side skirt but have decided to do the other repair in the winter. I though that the rocker panel was glued in place as well. Yours shows no sign of having to scrape glue anywhere. I'm just trying to get a feel for the horror show I'll face if they tell me all of this has to come off.

It certainly looks worse than it is. Normally when you see that much disassembly, it's just the precursor to fixing a lot of underlying damage after an accident. In this case, it's just the rocker that has to be replaced, and after that, everything goes back on quickly.

It's funny to look at a car like this, kind of just a faceless assembly of various parts one dependent on the other to make things happen each part more or less useless by itself but when all are brought together in just the right way you have one of the worlds greatest sports cars.

Except for the glued parts. Most of the damage to the rocker panel came when they took it off.

Wow Mike, that makes me kinda sad. I can't imagine how you feel. But, it's a good time to get that Z06 grill.

I'm old enough to let things slide off my back. As a shipmate once said, "I'm like the farmer's duck, flat-footed, don't give a ****." I don't like that it happened, but getting bent out of shape doesn't change or solve anything. It'll be fine in the end. My only problem is withdrawal symptoms. Don't really want a Z06 grille. I'll spend my mod money on an MGW shifter and the A/S tires (maybe wheels, too).

It's a little hard to tell. Yours is at the back and mine is at the front, but it looks like the rocker panel is all that's involved. If there is damage to the lower fender as well that could be more costly. In either case the fender has to be removed to access the rocker panel (actually called the Aperture Panel since it defines the door opening). Good luck.

This thread:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-project.html
pretty much shows the disassembly of the car down to where yours is but on both sides.
It is interesting to see they took the door off using a different method and the aperture looks to be just cut apart and ripped off. I hope they have a reference to where the new one should go. All panels are referenced to this. It would be interesting to know what they used for a reference to mount the new one.
Thanks for the pics.
