Those that have a Stinger decal that you installed, what did you do with the extra length? The Jake one I got is pre-cut and long. It's an OEM part from Trunk Monkey Parts.
I thought the thing would match up perfectly from edge to the hood vent edge, but the whole thing is about an inch longer. Did you wrap half an inch portion over the edge of the hood and the other below the hood vent?

Did you remove the vent?
Yes it wraps around at both ends, the vent is easily removed for installation.
I was able to get the inside plastic to pop off, but the rectangular retainers that turn have me stumped. I've turned them all one way and tried the other direction and even had them pointed center, but the vent won't budge.
Any other insight you can share?

Use a trim tool near those white rectangular pieces (they are plugs) to pry the whole piece away and it pops out. Those plugs stay attached to the piece..not individually removed. There is no turning them involved. You have to use a little force to get it started....
I just installed the OEM one last night. Using the alignment marks mine overhung the grill opening and rear of hood by maybe 1/4 inch - just enough to wrap around edge so you see no hood color. That is the way the factory does it also ....
To remove vent ... remove two screws under hood and remove trim piece that goes to air intake. Don't touch any of the white clips.
Hold hood with one hand and use your palm and give grill a small put firm whack with your palm on top, bottom, left and right to pop the clips. Do this from the front since the grill pops out the back. To fully remove the grill you need to remove the hood liner. I just popped mine out enough to wrap the vinyl around the opening.
i recently installed mine using a credit card, spray bottle, and heat gun.
I used the credit card and heat gun to shape and form the decal on both the vent end and around the hood. Be patient and work it slowly as to not stretch or scratch the decal itself. In fact, i didn't even need to remove the vent and was able to get it to lay down perfectly.
Here's a shot of the finished product. Best of luck!
Haven't received any feedback on best method (e.g. Wet or Dry) to install a OEM Jake Hood Decal, so now asking does anyone know what "type" of 3M adhesive is on the OEM Jake Hood Decal (e.g. "Dry")?

Thanks,
OK, didn't get any feedbacks but found a post on Stingray Forum that confirmed the "Wet Method" words, and also viewed a Youtube video on taking off the hood vent to allow overlapping decal easier.
Removing the Hood Vent is very easy... Couple of #15 torx screws and then use a Garden Weed tool that is forked to remove the plastic clips (or you can get a OEM door panel removal tool at your local parts store)....
I'm all set to proceed with the install, but plan to get the hood prepped for ceramic coating with my detailer that will do a 2-step correction to get all the swirls out and then install the Jake decal and then apply the ceramic coating... Stay tune for pics after its all done!
