Well I called and got an appointment with my Chevy dealer, over heated once on my way to South Carolina and once on my way back. Both times I was running 70 to 75 on the Interstate and switched to another interchange and traffic stopped or slowed way down and then the temp started going up and wouldnt stop so I pulled over and shut it off. It shot out some antifreeze, I put about a half a gallon of DEXcool back in it and drove the rest of the way to Carolina. Then coming home the same thing happened on I26 got off to I75 and traffic stopped for an accident and temp did the same thing I shut off waited for traffic to start 3 hours later and drove home. Not much fun having a car you cant drive on the interstate and take a vacation in. Maybe I should have kept my C6. Hope the dealer kind find a fix. Plus they are going to fix my popping roof. Couldnt get in for a week for the motor jobs they have sitting ?
Mine has overheated twice the first time in they just checked the fan connecter and gave it back to me. Always overheated when in traffic going really slow. This time in GM had them take the pump off and inspect it plus change the fluid and replace the thermostat. Both times the fan was not running when it overheated. The difference I noticed now is the fan runs a lot more then it ever did and both the digital and analog gauges are only a few degrees different and before they were 20 degrees apart. Now when I'm in traffic I can hear the fan running at high speed and the gauge will drop from 220 to 210 and when its really hot the fan will run a few after I shut the car off which it never did before
It really sounds like a fan control issue. My fans have been running almost constantly on high speed all summer. Even on a 100º day, I've never seen the water temp over 220º.
