To bad, I'll keep my pristine 2009 C6 off the market until Corvette engineers figure out to do what Korean car makers can do.

I'm sure they could develop something to make it work but I'm sure they would rather focus on other things such as paint quality and more HP
GM is last to the table with technology? Really? In the case of the C7, a choice was made to omit it but plenty of GM vehicles have this feature.
Looking at all mirrors all the time is key! In fact attribute that (and luck) to never having had an accident with another vehicle in 55 years of driving! However now a bit of controversy. We have blind spot detection in our BMW SUV. It "warns" to late IMO. Also never have needed or used "blind spot add-on mirrors" in my, '88, '93, '08 Vette coupes but added it to my C7. Here is why:
Been using the "proper mirror setting" since about when the SAE tech paper that defined how in 1995! If you read the right side of the pic folks like to post taken from that paper, it states you need to follow a car from the center mirror to the side mirrors see below.) That requires good visibility to the rear. The C7 lacks the good rear visibility compared to my other Vette coupes.
Turning ones head is fine except when there is no time! Recently had a large 18 wheeler tire tread appear in my center lane on the local interstate and there was traffic in the right. Saw "prior" there was no car in or speeding up at ~85 mph in the left lane so made that quick move at 65 mph. Car felt like a Go Kart changing lanes!
Hate driving on the Interstate because of tire treads, 18 wheelers in general, troopers using radar as well as folks driving 85 mph on our 70 mph speed limit I95 and who don't slow down in our recently added, 60 mph posted 5 mile section "speed trap." I do slow to 65 as I know that is a favorite money maker for local troopers! I need to see speeders coming from far back as I did that day, NOT just when they are in my blind spot. That is the section I was in when the large tire tread appeared.
Your Car Your Choice.
The C7 rear view is narrow and does not allow you to fully see what the 1995 SAE paper defined as a way to avoid blind spots!
The C7 Does Not Have as Wide a View as My C6 or Prior Vettes. Read Words on right!
Simple Solution, Use SAE Mirror Adjustment and Add Blind Spot Add-On Mirror!

I now belong to the 3-10 club. Three seconds down and 10 minutes up and therefor don't do the amount of maintenance I once did. Price of the calendar moving one second, hour, day, year by at a rapid rate.

I'm with you. There are just some people who don't want to acknowledge new technology. The advantages of the system certainly outweigh the drawbacks.
