Was catching up on the latest hurricane information affecting Florida and the weather channel was showing residents filling and moving sand bags for the likely heavy rainfall. First thing I notice is a red C-7 (likely a Z-51) with the hatch open and folks hefting filled sandbags into the hatch.
What's odd about that...Porsche has run an advertisement for the 911 that shows it being used as a school bus, taxi, pickup as well as a sports car.
The hatch was designed to carry stuff, use it.

You just have to love these cars....they have so much utility value...who knew a 2 seater sports car could haul 8 foot long boards and still close the hatch, lots of groceries, cases of pop/beer, or 2 golf bags, and most unique of all, ride along in E mode on 4 cylinders and get fantastic gas mileage....case in point, today I was low on fuel so I drove a 28 mile round trip to Ann Arbor in Eco mode. When I left the house the gage was reading 113 miles to empty. As I drove along the 2 lane back roads at 45-50 mph I could watch the miles to empty actually rise...how cool is that. When I got home the reading was 105 miles to empty So, one way to think of it is I drove 28 miles on 8 miles worth of gas....gotta love the capability to do this any time you want; or drive it like you stole it!
I'm in Tally and I took mine out earlier to see how the weather mode held up. Way better than my GS that had 345s in the rear is all I can say! I'll most likely be taking it out tomorrow too to see how it holds up in the winds too.
A car is a car. Use it for what you see fit or absolutely need. Have fun, live life to its fullest!
And to others in FL, be safe over the next 24 hours!
If that's what he wants do with his Vette, then fine. However I ain't a big fan of scratches in the paint, and this seems like a fast track to them.
Just for kicks, I have an old pickup truck for such tasks, and I have a C-5 for my daily driver, and simply getting my golf clubs and out two tor three times a week has given it a few minor scratches, no matter how careful I am.
I go to Florida every summer for a few weeks and have seen some interesting storms.
It's amazing to think about but for people living there you can park your car, go into a store to shop, and have a rather brief 15-20 minute rainstorm leave waters which rise to the point of flooding your car out, and then completely dry up within the hour.
The C7 has surprising utility in the trunk. I almost (almost) brought a toilet home in mine from Lowes. I'm pretty sure it would have fit with the hatch open and a few tie downs.
Decided to drive back with my wifes car. Probably avoided a few embarrassing posts on youtube.
