Default Coolant Leak

Is anyone aware of a PI* Bulletin documenting that you need to do cool down laps when you track your car, to keep the coolant from overflowing?

My car is in the shop for a coolant leak but they are unable to see any loss and the system maintains pressure. There is certainly coolant all over the engine compartment. I drag race my car not road track, so not sure a "cool down" lap is necessary. And I haven't been in 4 months.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

*What does PI stand for?

PI stands for Parts Information.

Haven't seen anything about doing cool down laps to prevent coolant overflow. I don't know of anybody who has had a coolant over flow problem in a C7. Usually at track events you have somewhere between a mile and a mile and a half after the checker flag to cool down the car and yourself. However, I have had to pull in during a hot lap to handle situations such as a passenger saying they are going to "Ralph". Then the question is how fast you can get them to pit lane and out of your car.

Was this the first time it happened? I suspect that it was just overfilled and purged the overfill. If this was a one off, I wouldn't worry about it for now. Just make sure the system and levels are correct and keep an eye out. I've seen this on a few C7s. The situation did not repeat itself.

They ordered a new hood liner (I'll post a pic later)
Car is under a monitoring program now, similar to the oil consumption test. They put a dye in the coolant and I'll go back on a couple of weeks for a recheck and replacement of the hood liner.

Not sure what you mean by the first time. I noticed this at about 1,800 miles and I have about 3,200 miles now.

If it's over filled, it was either that way from the factory or when the service dept did the 500 mile oil change.

This is the bulletin I was given. Not sure how it's applicable to a base Stingray.

I think it's been posted in the forum too.

Dude. That's not a leak. That's a spray job or explosion.

Yep. Went to the car wash and checked it immediately after. It's from the car wash. (No, I don't hand wash my car)

Anyone else experience this? Make me wonder how this is behaving in the rain?
