Default Transparent roof

Just purchased a new C7 Z51 coupe and my dealer tells me the transparent roof costs $4600.00, his cost! I'm in shock!!! Anybody know where to get a 2016 Corvette transparent roof at a reasonable cost?

Your dealer must be trying to make a ton of money. Here is one I found

http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/p-1...y-z51-z06.aspx

I believe they have discounts now, being labor day. (Im not affiliated nor know anyone there)

Your dealer's smoking weed. The dual roof cost is $1995 if ordered with body-color roof.

I believe the part # is 23145623. I've seen them online between $1750 and $2100. I would also suggest calling your dealer parts department directly and giving them the part # and ask them for the cost.

He probably got that by pricing each individual part required to construct a top. I recall some looking for exposed CF tops and that was around the cost they came up with when no vendors were really carrying them. Your best bet it to look in the parts for sale section here, I see a couple new ones each week, all approx 1200-1500.

Default transparent roof

My dealer also told me the 2016 roof is different than the 2014-2015 roof!

Anyone know if this is true?

Sounds like your dealer is clueless.

I saw mine in the "For Sale" section of the forum for $1000. It would have cost $100 or more to have it shipped, but the seller was only 30 miles away, so I went down and picked it up.

In late 2015 Chevy came out with a bulletin that had a fix for owners that complained of squeaky/creaky roof panes. The dealerships would swap out the "strikers" and "pins" if a customer complained of a noisy roof.

Like C7Jake said, what they call the "strikers" on the windshield frame are different - they are holes where the "pins" on the top go into.

The "pins" are also different.

You can see in C7Jake's picture that the "new" pins are a white color. The "old" pins were black.

I have a 2016 C7 made in Feb this year - it has the new strikers, and my body color roof that came with the car has the white pins.

However, the transparent roof I bought for $1000 came off an early 2015 car and has the black pins.

I've been running the transparent roof with the old black pins on my car for more than 2000 miles and it makes absolutely no noise at all. If it ever does start to creak I'll buy the white pins for a few $$ (I don't know what they cost - but probably waaayyy more than they should!) and install them on the transparent top.

Bottom line - if you have a new car, it will have the new strikers in the windshield frame. You can buy a C7 roof that came with any year and if it's older it will have black pins, newer it will have white pins - that's the ONLY difference in the roof itself. If you get one with black pins, drive with it and see if you get any unwanted noise - if so, just get the white pins and install them.

.

You could find them for the C6 for $500-$750. The C7's are running from $1000-$1500 in perfect condition. Just watch on here and Craig's list. If you don't get in a hurry you will find one in your price range. I found mine two miles from my house $1000. Make sure it is in good condition no scratches. Good luck.

And there are a lot of sponsors that sell GM parts at cost, or near to it, if you must have a brand new one.

PS - ask your dealer/parts counter to show you the price since he obviously got it confused with something else.

Try the area junk yards. You might luck up and find a wrecked C7 that hasn't had roof damage.

I cannot believe you cannot buy a new one. I recently ordered my 2017 (same as the 2016) with the transparent roof and it is being built next week, with that top.

Probably the part number rolled. Call a parts department and have them see if there is a superceding part number.
