Default 2016 C7 - Two Problems

Granted I only 300 miles just havent had much chance to drive it with travel schedule but maybe two problems or just lack of understanding on my part. And yes, I did scan the manual on the door lock question and it did not provide clarification:

(1) USB Ports not working: I have a 16GB Ipod Nano and it will not play from any USB port (behind the screen or glove box). It is not even recognized as being plugged in. It previously worked and today played when I left home but when I got back in the car, it would not recognize the device as being plugged in.

Any thoughts or tips on how to correct or a trip to the dealer?

(2) Remote Door Locks: To lock remotely, I have my setting for "lights and horn" alerts when i lock remotely. When I depress the lock button on the remote, the yellow parking lights come one but no horn, when i press it a second time, the horn blows. At no point do the headlights come one.

Is this correct?

Remote unlock, when I press the unlock button on the remote, the headlights do come on.

I checked the manual on this and did not see any reference to a second press being required (unless I just missed it)

Thx in advance.

USB issue happened to me too. It was the result of removing a SD card with the ignition off. Apparently, that's a no no. The factory suggests reinstalling the SD card that was removed with the ignition on. That didn't work for me, but their other suggestion did. That was to press Home>>Settings>>Return to Factory Settings>>>Clear All Private Data. Then turn ignition off for 5 minutes and retest USB unit.
Sounds scary, but it worked!

I "think" i have an iPod issue. It reads will not play in my other car either. Borrowed a neighbors and his plays in the Vette and my other car so I am assuming its an iPod issue and not the Vetter. Agreed?

Anybody know any thing about them or is it a throw away? Its about a year old.

Did a hard reset and it started working. Ill go with that for now. If it continues Ill prob chalk it up to Ipod going bad.

Any feedback on remote lock and unlock alerts is still appreciated. Thx.

I have a (similar) issue with my iPod classic on my 14. Stays connected to the USB port behind the screen. Once in a while, it fails to recognize the iPod.
Usually, it's because the iPod battery has died (aka, I haven't drive the car in a few days - the iPod does not power off when the car does), or the iPod needs to be power cycled.

I don't think the iPod is going bad, I think it's just a quirk of the system.

I, too, had issues in getting my iPod Nano recognized but the USB port behind the the drop screen. However, I was trying to interface the USB with an "other than Apple" cable. Switched it out with a genuine Apple cable; problem solved. Maybe you have tried this, maybe not. Several other posts related to this same interface problem/inconsistency.

Every car I've had with iPod capability has always gave me problems. Sometimes I start the car and the car won't read the iPod and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. I blame apple.

As for the lights coming on and the horn sounding when you lock the door with the remote......in settings you can program the car to lock itself. Once you shut the door the car locks itself about 7 or 8 seconds, and when it does the lights flash and the horn chirps.

Ditch the ipod and get a USB stick and your troubles will be over.

I never push the lock button. I just walk away from the car and it locks itself. You can set this up in settings.

fun ticket.
USB looks like a trip to the dealer to let a Tech look at it. Maybe a iPod issue. Try a USB thumb drive to see if the port works, that's where I keep all my music.
Remote lock. Lights flash on the first button push. Horn works on the second button push so you are good. Headlights only come on when you unlock the car with the remote. Welcome and congrats on joining the C7 world.
