Default Seat memory problem

Before anyone pounces, I've read and re-read the owners manual, both when I bought the car new 18 months ago and programmed the seats at that time, and again just now when trying to straighten out this mess. I originally had the drivers seat programmed with auto position #1 as my driving sweet spot and the 'door open' position as steering wheel fwd & up and seat aft for ease of exit. Note: I know that when the seat is at its full aft position it interrupts the auto function, so I have it set a half inch or so forward to allow for that. In the Settings menu I have Auto Memory Recall set to On at Engine Start, and Easy Exit Options set to On. This gave me 'seat to driving position #1 at engine start' and 'seat aft and steering wheel fwd & up' at shutdown when my door opened.

Recently I had the battery disconnected for several days while finishing a wide body project, and when I reconnected it the auto seat function now moves the seat to the aft position at both shutdown when the door opens and at engine start up. I've reprogrammed all three auto positions #1, #2 and 'door open at shutdown' and reset all the menu selections, but no joy. I've tried changing the menu selections, then programming the seat positions, then changing the menu selections back to where I want them, but still no joy. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Not sure this will help but disconnect the battery again for 30 minutes. Maybe one of the computers just needs to reboot?

Make sure you're using the same fob as before

It's the Alzheimer function working as designed.
I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes ( 15 ) and try as shown i the manual. Also, as mentioned by bbster in the above post, check out the video by That Cute Ginger.
It has helped many others, might be worth a shot.

Agree! That Cute Ginger video is the definitive fix for the memory seat function. She includes a couple of steps that, um, er, are not included in the owner's manual.

It has worked every time for me, without fail.

This is at best bogus. Computers don't need 30 minutes of disconnect time to be rebooted. Computers reboot at 30 nanoseconds of disconnect time.

My memory seats started doing the same thing a few weeks ago. I have watched the video, done everything she says, re-read the manual...still not working

When I start the car, it starts moving the steering wheel and seat, but the seat goes to the full back position, hitting the sensor, which stops all movement (as it's supposed to do when it hits the sensor). I have my exit position and memory 1 and 2 set so the seat back doesn't touch the sensor so it shouldn't be moving backwards. When I press and hold memory button #1, it will move the seat and steering wheel to the correct position

Exit memory works fine, the steering wheel just moves up and away from me as it should.

Thanks for all the input. The You Tube video by ThatCuteGinger did the trick for me too. The 'extra' step is to disable all auto functions, then reset all desired seat positions, then re-enable the auto functions.

It's not the electronics that need the extra time. It's the car's circuitry. Various devices in electric circuits retain voltage for a time after the voltage to them is turned off. If so, they can provide voltage to other devices in the circuit during that time. To make sure the electronics reset one needs to wait long enough for all the devices in the circuit to dissipate their voltage.

I had the exact same problem, the fix for me was switching to the other fob, then reprogramming the seats, seems to work fine now.

My point is that it doesn't take any time after the power is removed.

if you entered some type of capacitor/s which were designed to store electricity, say like the ones used in an aftermarket stereo system, than there would be time and/or some method of draining the stored energy?

i recall disassembling one back in the day and you had to cross positive and negative with this diode or some metal thing to de-energize it otherwise well... it wasn't fun we'll leave it at that lol

our cars are not equipped with any such capacitor then correct? thanks

I gave up on the memory seats. Never have worked but not really necessary anyway.
