Default Washed my FOB

A big duh as I neglected to remove my fob before the wife washed the laundry.
Fortunately, after removal from the washer, the fob continues to function!
This is what happens as we age!

I washed one of the fobs for my 2008 CTS right after I did the first oil change. I pulled the battery and let the fob dry and then installed a new battery and it was still working fine when I traded it in on my 2014 ATS. I would pull and replace the battery, some of them don't react well to water and will later corrode and damage the fob which isn't cheap to replace.

Been there;done that. Left it in the washer in the SOAK cycle for two hours, washed it and then ran it through the dryer!! Put it on a heater vent overnight and the next morning, it worked just fine. "

You guys were lucky. There are many more stories where the owner's brain fart cost $$$ out of pocket. Which brings to mind, is there any real justification for the fobs to be so damned expensive? My belief is no.

I have washed both fobs for my 2009 Acura TL. Both were still inoperative after many days of drying out. Assuming soap might be the problem, I soaked them in distilled water for several days, stirring occasionally, then dried for several days over a heat register. Both recovered completely.

I once went swimming with my friends Key Fob to his car, He had a chip in it that could have left us disabled at the lake with no cell phone signal. Lol even after a swim fob still worked.

But good deal that it worked without having to dry it out.
