Just use the valet settings and the hidden compartment can't be opened.
It's kind of like a door ****. It just keeps an honest person out. Wouldn't take much more than a blade to pry that screen down. Many people do not know that feature exist in our vehicles. My first time seeing it was in a new Tahoe. I find myself tucking my concealed carry in there at times when I'm driving. Having the ability to make the screen button less noticeable is a great idea I think when you want to store things and want to have the ability to leave them in your vehicle out of site.
Most people have no idea regarding this feature. If you always store your wallet in this compartment I would assume you also lock the car.
If not well that is another mystery.
I haven't seen the back of the button or wiring yet but the easy way would be to just unplug the button, run some wire to a new location on a different switch.
Simple and effective. No dash button is a dummy switch and only you know where to open it from.
As someone pointed out you could probably pry it down but that's assuming the theif in question new it could go down.
Hiding the up/down buttons will do nothing to stop anybody from pushing the button who knows that there is a compartment back there. I just learned, however, that if you park your M7 and leave it in reverse the screen will not open. Now granted all the would be thief would need to do is to take it out of reverse, which is doable even with the engine not running, but who knows about that trick and who would think about it (aside from us vette owners here)?
When I have left my wallet in the secret compartment, most times, I have, at most, the windows down and I would think the intrusion sensor would scare off any would be thieves.
Gotta remember the valet mode trick when I have the top off as the intrusion sensor is not on when the top is off.
