There shouldn't be.

Do you know what the load rating was?

Tirerack.com shows two different speed ratings ( W or Y )
according to there tech page, W is good up to 168mph and Y is good to 186mph
but they're not showing two different prices or not showing which you are getting.
$222 each for the fronts and $292 each for the rears (both with a free Road Hazard Protection plan)

The guys made a mock order sheet so I could see the installed price. I'll look and see. But they said they had them at the warehouse. This is just west of Atlanta.

The numbers you posted are not speed ratings, but are the load capacity of the tire.

89 = 1279 lbs
95 = 1521 lbs.

Speed ratings are not represented by numbers.

Still doesn't make sense that there would be 2 exact tires, just with different load ratings. Try to find more specific information on a label.

They will also be different front to back, so I don't know which we are talking about.

The original PSS ZP on from the factory is 89Y in the front and 95Y in the rear. I would go no lower than that.

Are you sure that they are not (89Y) and (95Y) instead of 89Y and 95Y?

There is a difference.

If they are exactly the same (even compound), it could be to allow some sidewall stiffness tuning/selection. If they are mostly competition /sports car tires, or standard equipment, that too could cause the manufacturer to ask for a different stiffness for tuning the cars performance.

Or the rear tire's load capacity could be higher because if you load the car with it's maximum cargo carrying capacity of around 600 pounds, that additional weight would be on the rear tires.

Difficult to add that additional weight over the front tires, thus the front tires do not have to have as much load capacity as the rear's when the car is fully loaded with people and luggage.

Luke,

Do you offer us better pricing than what I would see on your website ? I need to buy a set of replacement front tires.

Yes, technically it's (89Y) and (95Y) but that only affects the speed rating. The important numbers in this case are the 89 and 95 since I'm guessing top speed rating isn't going to be critical for an all-season tire.

Then the sidewall would likely be stiffer in the rear.
