Default Easy electrical question

Folks...i'm putting in a dashcam today and need to tap for power. Couldn't get power leads into the mirror unfortunately so i'm routing to the frton fuse box. (is there a rear?)

So which fuse is best to tap? I've searched as best i can and see 36 has been used.

Also, where is a good ground point underhood?

TIA.

[edit] ok i looked in the manual (novel idea) and see #30 is for seat fan which i don't even have...so i guess i can use that. Still not sure of a ground.

Easiest tape to reach (although at first doesn't appear that way) is the rear fuse panel. Here are the details:
Fuse 37 is on the lower rear fuse panel and is for the receptacle on the console. Shuts off with the engine. No need to remove molding, once you get the needed positive wire to the floor, the carpet molding just snaps over the carpet so just tuck the wire under. I did mine on the right so in 5 minutes you can tuck the positive wire under all molding and carpet. Use an Add-A-Circuit to fuse 37 and put in whatever capacity fuse you need. Then the wire is protected full length.
For a ground I used a bolt under the passenger side dash. Works great. More work to go to the front fuse panel.

To access the fuse panel, suggest first removing the bottom clips on the right plastic wheel wheel cover. Can do that with your fingers, it's 3 inches up from the floor. That makes it easy to pull out the carpet without ripping the inside corner! Then pull up enough carpet to expose the battery. To the left of the battery is the rear fuse panel. No need to expose all of it as fuse 37 is on the bottom rear. Look in the Owner's Manual.

Thanks, but the 12v to 5v converter i got from Rexing has the +/- wires pretty much Siamesed in insulation to the very tip so splitting them greatly is risky. I mean i could, just hate splitting the run so early.

...and I've already got the whole wire sitting in the engine bay waiting on a doggone tap.

ok i found the chassis ground, but every damn fuse i put the tap in was hot even with accessory off.

Ones that weren't, didn't have power when acc was on. WTF am i doing wrong?

Can someone tell which fuse i should use in the front box?

[edit] figured it out. #36 gets hots when engine is on.
