My first four Vettes were bought with the bottom line as the final decider, color was secondary, hence I went black (2002), Silver twice (2005, '07), Torch Red (my favorite, 2012) and Blue (2014). Now, my lovely bride and I agreed that my latest is my last Vette purchase so I made color the #1 deal maker/breaker and found my last love; 2014 TORCH RED 7MT Z51 Convertible even though I could have gotten a (slightly) better deal on another '14 Conv with more features (3lt vs 1lt) which was silver. I chose for the color first this time (within my price range).....
How important is color to you when buying (especially used when you can't afford new)?

I've bought 3 new Vettes in under 4 years and the color is always the toughest decision. In all 3 cars I went with optioned colors -2013 CRM $850, 2016 LB $995, and 2017 LBRM $995. I have no regrets.
When I bought my 2016 Z51 2LT A8 Laguna Blue, it was optioned that way sitting on the lot. The only thing I would have done different is the M7 however I have no regrets. I lucked out that it was the color I liked the most. But at the time when I bought it, it was a significant discount. If it had been a different color I probably would still own it today.
I just ordered a 2017 convertible; Admiral Blue with a black top and matching black interior. Color is important however mandatory options are; convertible, 2LT, M7 and navigation. I have never purchased premium paint.
I budgeted for a year-end 16 sale and had to have laguna blue, m7, msrc. the rest (z51, nav/pdr) was just a bonus. waited about 2 months for the right one within 300 mi.

I had narrowed my choices down to Torch Red, Black or Laguna Blue. As it turned out, I saw a Laguna Blue optioned just as I'd have ordered myself, on a dealers lot, 3LT, Z51 with everything on it. So when the dealer offered me 21% off sticker, it was a no-brainer.
Only thing I've changed are the painted silver wheels for a set of chromies I bought from a CF member in South Carolina. Sold my painted wheels to another member in Nevada.
Life is good.

I just ordered mine on Friday and that was the toughest part. I've been debating color for a month now. It came down to white or silver, I went with a white GS but may change it to silver next week. A good number of the C7's I see here in KC are white so that maybe why I switch.
I have always bought new and ordered my Corvette purchases. That being said color is my first decision, and then option package with the manual transmission.
When I was shopping for a Z, I would not even consider a yellow or orange car. I found it easer to eliminate color choices rather than looking for a specific color. Also, I was not interested in a black interior. After about a year of searching, I found a screaming deal on a '16 Z, 1LZ, M7, silver over dark grey (which was my first color combo preference.). So, for me anyway, knowing what I didn't want and being flexible on what I did want made the shopping easier.
I'd worry less about color and be more concerned that you're already negotiating with your wife on what you can and can't have........dangerous road to go down if you're a true enthusiast.
Our C5 was Torch Red with Oak interior, we wanted a C7 in Torch Red with Kalahari int. and in 2015 they only built around 335 in that combination about one percent, apparently most people don't like that combination by the small build number but we like it and had to go 400 miles away to find it. In any sports car you can't look bad in red. And that's my Victory Red truck in the back ground

I agree that color is the most important decision, at least for me. I figure the color is what you notice first, along with the fact that it's a Corvette.

Yes, I did the same thing. When I got done narrowing down my choices, I had two colors that I thought I liked equally. Then, as luck would have it, I found a Grand Sport on the lot, offered at a healthy discount, that was optioned nearly as I would have ordered it, and it was one of my final two colors. Easy decision to pull the trigger and buy it!
For years I thought I wanted to own a bright red Corvette. When the time finally came to buy one I test drove a C7 Torch Red convertible. It definitely turned heads but I found the amazing amount of attention it drew to be a bit uncomfortable. I found I much prefer a stealthy look so I went with Shark Gray with red interior.
Color was the number 1 factor for me. IMO opinion I feel a Vette should be a bright color and I was not interested in classy looking colors on a sports car. So for me it was between Velocity Yellow, Torch Red, and Laguna Blue.
I just ordered a GS and my color choice was Blade Silver. My 2014 was black (bought off the lot) and I needed to wash it almost every time I took it out. Black looks awesome when just washed but quickly gets dirty. Maybe I can go two rides before washing the Silver !!!!
