Default Gas leak

Guys my friend bought a new stingray monday and after they filled it up and he drove home, next morning gas in carport under fill spout. It is back at the shop and no fix as of today. They told him they would have to take a lot of components off to get to it. Seemed like a simple fix but not sure. I would think it is maybe where fill hose goes into tank. Anyone had this to happen to your vette? Thanks

I've seen a few threads about this happening. I found one, I didn't read the whole thing but I think they got everything fixed:

If it's the fuel sending module it requires removal of entire back end of the car to get to it. See my earlier thread with photos.

Thanks rooster, they did get a fix, it was from a cracked fuel sending unit. It seems there are several guys with this problem, bad bunch of sending units. They had to rip the rearend to pieces to get to it, bummer. Thanks again

Thanks, i did look at your post, what a bummer to have to remove the rearend. My friend is 78 yrs old and has bought new vettes every few yrs since 1987 and this is prob. His last one and to have this happen on day one has got him pretty bummed out.

Removing body panels on a C7 is really not a big deal. Obviously, a lot of folks freak out when they see the rear fascia and fender panels removed, but it's a fairly simple job.

It appears that a much bigger problem is getting replacements for some defective parts, which seems to be causing much more down time than should be necessary.

Dealership removed my rear facia to replace exhaust and they had to send it to their body shop for 3 days to get it realligned correctly. Prob just R/R isn't that hard but to get the body lines correct was difficult.

Probably not related, but here is what I received recently in the mail in Toronto -

"Info: Oct. 27th, 2016 received mail advice ("OWNER NOTICE" from GM Canada) called "Special Coverage Program 16009".

Basically making 'awareness' that some 2014 Corvettes may have a condition where a fuel odour is detected, fuel droplets appear below the left-hand fuel tank (driver side) with fuel gauge level above 1/2, or a malfunction indicator lamp illuminates due to a leak path in the driver side fuel tank at the Inlet Check Valve (ICV) to fuel tank shell interface".

Goes on to state ...."Do not take your vehicle to your GM dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe your vehicle has the condition as described above".

More details written....yada, yada.

It turned out to be the sending unit was cracked but they had to remove a lot of components to get to the tank and sending unit. From what I have read this is not uncommon. Bummer
