DUMP the run flats!
1st thing I did 17 yrs ago w/ my C5, and 1st thing I did with my C7!
The road noise reduction going with regular tires made all the difference in the world! I was going deaf on just one drive home from the dealer, the run flats were so loud!
Added bonus is the ride comfort is sooooooo much better as well!

It's almost impossible to plug a tire on the car, so include a jack and lug wrench if you're going to rely on that method. Plan on swearing and grunting a lot.
Compressor and goop if you don't want run flats. New form of goop doesn't screw-up TPMS. Personally I like the piece of mind of run flats, but I also carry a compressor and goop (i.e., belt and suspenders).

The difference between runflats and non-runflats is considerable. Go with the non-runflats and I think you'll be much happier.
I carry an air compressor and a plug kit in my C5 just in case I would have a puncture in my non-runflats. I also have emergency road service on my auto insurance policy.
When these run-flats wear out, I'll get the non run-flats, a plug kit and a compressor! The run-flats really howl as they get worn...at least my last set did.
This is my first Corvette and first experience w/run flats. Considering the short sidewall on the run flats and sport suspension of these vehicles, I find the ride to be fairly comfortable overall. Still, I'll probably replace them with non-run flat tires when the time comes and keep the savings in my pocket.
Tire plugs of the type used for roadside repair are not an approved repair on tires approved for high speeds. An inside patch/plug is the only approved method, and that requires removing the tire from wheel.
Todays runflats are light years better than those available just 10 years ago on the C6. The PSS runflats are amazing, and Michelin is now releasing high-performance, all-season runflats this November in all C7 sizes except for the GS and Z06.

I agree. And I drive my Z06 on road trips to areas out west where there is limited cell service, so I want the security of the run flat.
Even if you have non run flats and able to contact a wrecker company to come out and remove your tire so you can plug it on the side of a narrow road in the mountains, remember that the non run flat tire does not have the self supporting side walls like the run flats and will collapse, seriously lowering the car, making it difficult to get a jack under the car to raise it to remove the wheel with the flat tire.
In addition, not all flats are caused by a small nail in the center of the tread that can be plugged to hold air.
I've own numerous vehicles with countless tire set-ups, and while I would not consider the OEM tires among the "best," I have had absolutely no issues with quality, performance, or noise.
My Corvette is not a road trip car (other than from the selling dealer), so when the ZPs run out I will buy non RFs and happily carry my AAA card. Tow it home and deal with it with the floor jacks there. There is a huge difference in ride with the non RFs. Now with the magnetic shocks and T, S and Tr there may be less of a difference, but I can't wait til I try T with the top down and non RFs on. As I have several sets of tires/rims, I get to try that combo tomorrow.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
