Just got tint done on my C7 today by a very reputable local tint shop. Couple of questions.
- The windows on the 16 C7 roll down probably half an inch every time you open the door. I've been letting the car sit as much as possible but its my DD so I've still had to use. I believe this small movement has created a bubble of some sorts near the bottom of the tint. Anybody run in to this problem?
- The tint is a little hazy which is normal but there are some areas small bubbling/creasing. Will this go away? If its not any better by next week I'll take it back in for a redo.
On a positive note, the car really looks awesome with the tint on it! Have to go 20% all around minimum. He tried to sell me on the front windshield for 150 but I turned it down.
Give it a week to dry. If you can park it in the sun, even better. Bubbles and haziness should go away, creasing doesn't sound right. My side windows didn't bubble at the bottom because of the window indexing, that might be a problem too.
This car looks so much better tinted, I couldn't imagine not doing it.
I didn't have any issues with the slight movement of the windows in this car or any of the others I've had tinted over the years.
Best to park it in the sun the next few days and let it cook the moisture out. It usually takes a couple of few weeks to cure completely. My shop has always put a piece of tape over the window switches that says "don't roll down for one week".
Hazing and a couple of very shallow bubbles is par for the course, not so sure about the crease. Might want to call and ask about that one. The sooner they replace a problem the easier it is.
Good luck, have fun, and post a picture.
FWIW, I've had many vehicles with tint and never have seen your issues. I've always been paranoid of bad tint jobs so I keep to certain shops. I'd go somewhere else if I were you.
Im pretty sure money has already swapped hands. Unless the op wants to pay twice for the job, I think it's best to let the original installer correct his work. Any professional that I've encountered will fix installation issues without any problem.
The one thing I found that works to my advantage, is to never rush these guys.
My tint guy has done many Vettes. He manually triggers the latch while the door is open, this will put the window in its up position as if the door is closed. At this point he uses a heat gun to dry the bottom portion where the window indexes. I have never had an issue with the bottom due to the windows indexing.

Those are great points and I agree. I simply meant with the problems encountered, some questions need to be asked. OP, I hope it works out for you!

That is the right way to do it and for those who have not yet had it done ask your installer how they do it before they start!
