Default Order number

Anyone know what the letters and numbers denote in an order number?

They denote that you have an order.

The alphanumeric six character Order Number is issued as an order is entered GM wide and is sequential whether the order is for a car, a truck, a Chevy or a Buick, etc. I know it has been in use since the 1969 model year and maybe before than. Back then it was issued as orders were received as the order was mailed in not entered into a computer server.

laborsmith has it exactly correct. Think of it as a "base 26" system, in which the first order number is AAAAAA, the second is AAAAAB, etc. This allows for many more combinations that a "base 10" numeric system would provide.

Interesting, when I ordered my 2005 Corvette in April of 2005, the order number was JCRZSK. After over 11 years, order numbers now begin with "T".
