Default Driving in the rain, a paradigm shift

I've had my 2015 'Vert since January. Initially, I drove it very little when the weather turned wet and muddy, preferring to keep it in the garage for those nice dry-pavement days.

Now, I've changed my habits. I drive my car regardless of the rain and the accompanying mud. The fun of driving my car is far outweighing the fact that it is nearly always dirty now, to one degree or another.

Even dirty, the Vette looks pretty good as it is white. Maybe I'd think differently if I owned a darker color, but I doubt it. If it gets that bad, I can even wash it in the rain, and move it into the garage before it is covered with pine needles to dry it.

How about you? Do you drive your car during inclement weather or do you prefer to wait for sunnier days?

Default I like it dirty.

I drive mine (2015 Z51, M7, blah, blah, blah) rain or shine. It is Shark Gray. The only parts that are really noticeably dirty after a rainy drive, are the black parts of the rear end. Life is short. Insurance is cheap. Drive it and enjoy.

I agree with you. About the only time I don't really drive the car is when they've put gravel on the Bay Road in front of my house. That will probably happen once or twice in January and February.

Glad you are out enjoying your car as well....I'll be taking mine out later this morning, to Walmart, for dog food. It's gonna come back filmy grey from the rain, LOL

Daily drive mine. The Blade Silver color is awesome in it's ability to hide dirt. I wash it weekly, if possible, though, so it's usually pretty clean.

I "daily" drive my car, switching back and forth with my truck (2015 GMC Canyon). I drive the car rain or shine. I put All-Season tires on for the winter in case I get caught in a sudden snowstorm (and summer tires aren't very good cold). Last winter I drove the car quite a bit, but it didn't snow much around here so I avoided driving the car in snow and ice.

The real paradigm shift is how well this thing handles in the rain. The "wet" mode is phenomenal.

The Bowling Green plant tour guide said he smiles when he reads that some owners believe their C7 has never seen the rain. He then showed us the water leak testing that all C7s get where 12 gallons a minute are thrown at each C7 off the line to do a quality check for the seals on our cars.

It's not that I'm afraid of driving in the rain.

I hate spending the time to get it clean again.

Yes, that is true. But for me, cleaning the car, doing housework, etc are therapeutic. I have some anxiety issues, and doing repetitive work like cleaning helps me relieve some stress, at least temporarily.

I feel the same way. I mean I do like washing my car, but I hate seeing it dirty. I usually drive my other car when it rains.

I think I need to wash it this weekend since it sprinkled yesterday...

I test drove mine in the rain. I drove it on both dirt and gravel roads with the top down the first day I owned it. I drove in the snow a few days later.

I fear road conditions, even wet, cold ones less than I fear deer in heat. ;-P

Rain / Shine / Light Snow - I'll drive in anything. Its fun keeping the back end in check when accelerating. Of course I have winter rubber which I'll be putting on soon.

From March to November my C7 is my daily driver. Being in Canada I put it away for the winter. That means rainy days, sunny days, cloudy days, stops at Walmart and other parking lots, and including the work parking lot. I do however try my best to keep the car in the best shape I can. So I regularly wash and wax, as well I try to park next to curbs or "special" parking spots if I can. Sometimes, though that isn't possible and its a little unnerving, but what can you do.
I try and have the mindset of "this ain't no dress rehearsal". We only have so much time so why wait for a nice day to drive your C7? This is my 7th Vette and after three years of ownership I still can't wipe the stupid grin I get when I crank it up in the AM. ENJOY THE DAMN THING!!

I drive mine in the rain too. Just gotta give the car more respect and it wont wrap you around a tree. This car is so much fun to drive, even in the rain!

I enjoy driving in the rain if I have fresh tires. It's fun to slide around.
