Default C7 nav question

Just purchased a 2016, I tried to put in my home address in the nav and it could not find my address. The state was showing correctly, the city was entered correctly. I start typing my address pressing 5 and it says there are only 52 places in my city that have an address starting with 5

What am I doing wrong? lol my 2012 with 2010 dated maps knew my address

Is it a rural area?

Might wanna use Android Auto or Carplay instead. Much more up to date.

This doesn't help you, but just a suggestion from a paranoid type: I NEVER put my home address an my GPS. I'll enter something a few blocks away, as that will get me home if I'm in unfamiliar territory. I always worry about someone having access to my car while I leave it parked in an area which suggests I will not be home for a while.

I think it is telling you that there are 52 streets and/or roads in your town where the street addresses start with a "5". Have you put in the 2nd digit of your address and/or the complete numeric number? Basically the NAV unit is trying to "guess" ahead. The 2nd digit should reduce the "number" of possible streets. The 3rd digit will reduce it more.

Aren't you supposed to enter the street name first, then the number?

I don't have nav on my Chevy, but every other nav system I've ever had works that way.

You can use Current Location while sitting at home to set Home.

I thought about that as well, but your registration is in the glove box which has the same info

I had a little trouble once too and not sure how I made it work but, ..
once you have the State, try entering the numbers before entering the city.

Try entering it like this:

31 MAIN ST, ANYTOWN, TX

Use commas.

You are entering something wrong. Without knowing your address, have no idea. Common error - Routes have to be entered as; state route 5, not route 5. I never put punctuation in my navigation unit and have no trouble.

Last summer I went to visit a friend at his camp in Ontario. The corvette nav system could not find his address, which I was able to find in Google Map on my phone. So I set the corvette nav for the closest town which I followed until I got close. I then turned on the nav in my phone. Shortly after, I got verbal instructions to make a legal u-turn. On completing the u-turn I got instructions to make a legal u-turn which, of course, would put me back in the same direction from which I had just turned. I stopped and then realized I was being instructed by two different devices.

Too bad GM does not adopt Google Map like Tesla. I have a 2014 and can't link nav from my phone. I have not updated the nav in the corvette but I expect, like the caddy, it will cost about $150 (can't remember the exact amount) a few years ago. I could have bought a GPS device cheaper.

The hardest part of the nav system is figuring out how it works, but once you do, its not a bad system. Especially for multi-stop trips, i like it better than my tomtom.

Anyway -
I don't imagine it changed much for the 16 vs the 14 - in my 14 it number street city state

Manual entry
123 main street anytown state (no punctuation)

Voice command, say the entire number, not the individual numbers; that is
1035 is not one-zero-three-five, it is one thousand thirty five.

Slight pause between the words; one hundred-twenty three (pause) main (pause) street (pause), longer pause, city longer pause, state.

My registration card shows a PO box, so no worries there, and the closest thing to "home" address in any of my GPS systems is the MP station at a local military base

Actually, they do on 2016 and newer vehicles. It's called Android Auto. I plug my phone into USB port, and run Google Maps on the vette's infotainment screen.

PM me your address. I'll try and load it into my system. If I get it loaded, I'll tell you how I did it. That way the system's ability to load your address gets checked out for sure.
