Default No key detected???

My 14 C7 has let me down a little. When starting the car I get a message in the DIC "No key detected - insert key in slot to start". I have used both key fobs to no avail. Car does not recognize either of them. I installed a new FOB battery in one of them - but problem is still there. Car starts, but never recognizes either of the factory supplied keys with my car...2 years and not a problem at all until this. Anyone else encounter this? Have a cure? I can go to the dealer this week, but it's a hassle going there that I would like to avoid...

Replace your key fob battery...

Also - the car battery may be failing at 2 or 3 yr old.

Low voltage causes strange things.

Hooray, I had the same thing happen. I just replaced my key FOB battery and the problem was resolved.

Sometimes there is some interference that can cause the car to not recognize the fob. Cell phones, local security systems, coins or a lot of keys in the pocket, etc… I have a couple purses with really strong magnet clasps that interfere, too.

Double check and make sure you put the new Fob battery in correctly and do a load check on your car battery.
