EA, I've seen some folks here (or was it stingray forums?) take a diecast Maisto (non-kit), dissassemble it and repaint the exterior/interior and modify the wheels etc. so it matches their real C7. So I believe the Maisto 1/18 diecast cars CAN be dissassembled for paint.
I just built the Revell 1/25 scale kit. The kit is easy to assemble, but the hardest part is getting some of the parts to fit. I had to trim the headlight lenses to fit the body, and when I got everything together the hood would not close due to interference with the air intake and hood vent. Finally got the hood to close right after thinning the underside of the vent and trimming a bit off the duct work to the vent and air intake box.
CAUTION: If you build this kit do not paint anything inside the body... I painted the matt under the hood and it showed through the hood... Never had a model that was so transparent that you could see something painted on the underside. I had to remove the paint so the hood would match the rest of the body.
Oh, I also fabricated a front splitter out of 1/8" polystyrene sheet.
Here it is. And it didn't take that long. There's no spoiler and the wheels aren't the right ones, but it is almost the car that I will be ordering in Feb.
